Plusnet - coinicidence or something more sinister?

Last night from about 7pm onwards I couldn't get a connection and kept getting "network error". I'm not very techie but the router diagnostices said everyhting wwas fine except "internet".

I used to have this problem regularly with talktalk and was convinced it was just a case of too many users trying to access in the evening.

Today I get an e-mail from Plusnet offering their Plusnet Pro service for £5 a month to make sure my "connection keeps up the pace, even at the busiest times".

Am I too cynical or could it actually be an innocent coincidence?

  • it seems just a coinicidence. I have the same email this morning as well, but the connection is working fine..

Pure coincidence, I assure you. As per our service status pages we've had a number of pipe drops (pipes are the connections that we pay for between us and the internet, essentially) and as a result the network is out of balance at present. This means that some of our gateways will be busier than they should be, which will result in slightly degraded performance for users on those gateways until things settle down again.

We're working to balance the network but unfortunately it's not something that will happen overnight.

    Hope that helps explain things,
