Insurance for an unsettled claim

I have an unsettled claim for approximately £50K+ and am finding it difficult to get a quote for home insurance. My current insurer is conveniently no longer providing a home insurance product. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

Why is the claim not settled ?
Insurance product withdrawn for all policyholders they have or just your own policy ?
Not sure this is something that people on a forum can really offer too much assistance on. Perhaps speak to a large brokers like Towergate or specialist broker Home Protect. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
The insurance is not settled, as I understand it, because on 4 October the loss adjusters said that the majority of the work has been completed but not all of it, despite the fact that the builders have not visited the property since 2 September and I have neither asked them to come back nor have they offered to come back.
I have been told that the insurance company are no longer offering a home insurance product.
I have spoken to numerous insurance companies including those you mention and none are willing to quote.
I am now suggesting to the bank that own the insurance company that they must have a duty of care to me and that one of the many other insurance companies they own should be prepared to take over.0 -
Which Bank is this ?
Normally when Banks change their Insurers or stop an arrangement, they sort out something for those with open claims. They do this because they should know that it is difficult to arrange cover elsewhere with an open claim. If they are not doing this, it might be worth speaking to the ABI and FSA.
My personal opinion is that they should be maintaining your cover until the claim is fully resolved. Surely they must be doing this for some. What if you had an ongoing claim for subsidence or fire damage.

I'd prefer not to name the Bank other than to say that it is a large high street Banking Group.
Thank you for the advice re ABI and FSA.
I'll let you know how I get on.0
