Neighbouring Solar Panels?
Comments
-
I think its terrible that people would be put off by either buying a house with them on or for a neighbour having them on. Surely this should be a way forward and common place to have solar panels. I think every new build should be forced to have some sort of re-newable energy making product, or it can't be built. So no wouldn't put me off at all. Just my two-peneth.
The current system where they only make the owner any money via a government subsidy shows that these things do not currently work.
I would not be interested until they improve so that the costs incurred can be offset by savings withour subsidies.
I wouldnt want to buy a house with them on as I would then potentially be stuck with a house with poor equipment on it that will need repair etc. There is no real guarantee that the FIT guarantee will actually be honoured. Plenty of ways for government or energy companies to get round/cancel the guarantee.
Once these things are actually efficient enough/cost effective enough to pay for themselves then I may be more interested. At which point every large warehouse in the country would be covered in them so we wouldnt really need local residential areas blighted by the things anyway.
It seems to me that the solar energy vibe at the moment as more about some people wanting to do something, rather than thinking though whether they are really helping the planet or not.
Give it a few more years and i would expect threads on other parts of this forum with people who have had their guaranteed contracts torn up and no money to fix them.0 -
You're being naughty. Go and wash your keyboard out with soap and water.
Sorry but it is proven science.
In a paper submitted for peer review in 1998 it is all explained.
I believe the paper was titled the "Research Undertaking Balanced Bionics Institute Schedule H". It is initially very revealing.0 -

All electricity generation methods are subsidised in one way or another. However in nuclear, gas, coal etc it is the big boys who receive the subsidy.3.9kWp solar PV installed 21 Sept 2011, due S and 42° roof.
17,011kWh generated as at 30 September 2016 - system has now paid for itself. :beer:0
