Finally, the howling gale has departed here at least, about bleedin' time, four days it lasted, couldn't go outside without being blown into a wall or on yer bum, tsk.
To anyone feeling a bit fragile, down or just needing one, a huge (((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))), strong cuppa coffee and a big cheesy grin. Hope today's a good one."Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0 -

Ohis it over - I was just getting my second wind.
:coffee:think i need one of these
Full packed day of teaching today. I do love it but a whole day is quite tough. Lunch with an old colleague tho.
Now, what shall i get out of the freezer for tea? I'm supposed to be running it down, but since Sunday have frozen 4 portions of nut roast, 2 portions of leeks in cheese sauce, 6 portions of ratatouille and 3 portions of what we call grandad pie (cos my dad used to make it! - it's really a variation of corned beef hash)
I think we are going to have whoopsied ready made curry.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
They are probably mine Jojo, I have a habit of leaving my knickers where I shouldn't.

Grey Queen is going to be well miffed to have missed this.
Glad she's sorted Henry Hoover out cos someone is going to have to hoover up all these party poppers in the morning:rotfl::mad::D Too bl00dy right I am!
Y'know, I wondered why I woke up with a headache and then I read the thread and realised it was a sympatico virtual hangover from you lot last night. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I'm not helping with the clean-up, either, I've got to go to work in a few hours...........:rotfl:Work; the curse of the drinking classes.
Next time, I'll have a pint of Jack Daniels on da rocks, ta muchly.
GQ; a woman of d'une certain age with a Past. Thank goodness it was pre-FB as it's taken me twenty years + to track down all the photies and bury the witnesses to certain 1980s activities in various motorway bridge construction projects.;)
Right, gonna put the kettle on as all this talk of drinking is making me thirsty.
Remember, ladies, you ain't drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Walks in sulking:( I missed the party!!!!!
Have lurked on this thread after just joining the one that shall not be named. I have a night off catching up with houework and you've all been partying. I Looovvveee parties:j
Just wanted to say morning and I too am a bit of a Terry Pratchett fan. My mum was an avid fan, but sadly passed away 2 years ago she missed her 60th birthday by 2 months. I got a TP book (Hogfather?) signed by the man himself for my mum for Christmas one year. Queued for an age in Basingstoke.
Time to head to work. Will post more often so as not to miss out on anymore parties.
Hugs to all & have a good day.0 -
Good points well made, although I'm a little disappointed
I think I expected a different answer, instead of my husbands arguments put more clearly;). It's still something I want to do though, but I'll perhaps put it off a bit longer while I do some more research. I do tend to wear rose tinted glasses for much of the time, if I'm honest.
I'm in stretford, by the way. For this year I'll maybe look into other things to do, we're already down to help out at the local housing associations christmas do for what is affectionately called the oldies club, and I think I've been voluteered to bake mince pies.
I think I was just hoping to get the girls to appreciate what we do have rather than moan about what we don't have!
thanks for your input xxxxxx sleep well all xxxxxxxx
I know our local People's Kitchen in Newcastle Upon Tyne receives Christmas boxes from - the local Mothers' Unions (an Anglican charity) - each box has things like toothbrush and toothpaste, warm gloves/hat, sweeties, faceflannel, liquid showergel/soap etc. Enough were given last year so every single person who needed to use the Kitchen on Christmas day received a box as a present. Something like this might be happening in your area and be appropriate for your children to help with, rather than on the actual day.0 -
Bacon roll over here please red doe. A pint of orange juice a large bacon roll followed by a bar of chocolate and I will be good to go. Great party last night .
Jojo I checked I still had my knickers before I left last night but if they were on the kitchen tap they will be harduphesters.
OH is changing the thermostatic valves on all of the radiators today as over the years they have all stopped working and stay on. The dining room and spare bedroom only need them on the frost-free setting. Hoping this will save a few pence. When the house was built the builders left 10 valves still in packets in the attic so we are going to use these, which will hopefully work, and will save us having to buy new ones. Also want to get some of the foil car sunscreens to slide behind the radiators (OH will really think I have lost the plot)
 Do any of you ladies have any ideas on how to draft proof the keyhole in the back door. It is not magnetic so cannot put a magnet over it but there is a heck of a draft blowing through it.
Gave our bedroom and ensuite a thorough sort out and deep clean yesterday. Sorted some things out for charity and tidied all of the drawers. Put the summer clothes in the attic and discovered that I now fit into some of the clothes I put up there because I had put weight on :T. I now have three pairs of trousers that fit for work several tops and two pairs of tidy jeans. The big clothes have gone back into the attic, as you never know with weight. It has a nasty habit of sneaking up on me and landing on my hips and bum .
OK had better help jojo with the clean up operation. I'll go and jet wash the alien slime off the drive.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.
