in Cutting tax
Has anyone setup or been part of the Government scheme to provide more people with home PC's via a tax-free initiative with your workplace??

I tried to get my company involved in this, apparently, there's a min company size of 1000 employees, so we don't qualifyYou can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead0

I've done some work on the HCI scheme. I have to say the PC choices offered are not always the best, you can get cheaper PC's than what is sometime's offered. In the company we did the work for, were told the take up was pretty poor."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Is it definitely true that a company with a workforce smaller than 1,000 is unentitled to take up the scheme??0

My company (>1000 ppl) is using Dell as the provider. Even with the tax break the PCs on offer are much more expensive than what you would pay for them anyway.0

i work for rolls-royce and we have just been given the option of an hci
i must admit that the pcs on offer are all top notch stuff
they are also cheaper than anywhere i can find online
i was a bit sceptical at first but have had a bit look about too and it seems to be a good deal
we are obviously a company larger than 1000 i think 700 signed up for items in one day in one site/factory alone
i ordered an hp media center m1280, 19"tft, 17" tft, wireless router, 20gb ipod and some 7.1 speakers
think it is through nicatorA penny saved is something else for the wife to spend !!!0 -

our company did it a few years back, through ccl computers in leeds. we were able to buy the components and build them ourselves. as long as the items were bought at the same time you could buy pretty much anything, as well as getting the parts to build my main pc i got an extra printer, network card for my laptop, digital camera and a laptop bag.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0

I work for a computer manufacturer and they offered us kit via HCI. That kit was much more expensive than you could buy the same PCs from Toys'R'Us! With the tax back it then worked out a bit cheaper, but it was a real earner for the company, which I honestly don't think was the intention of the scheme.0
