Motoring convictions & CRB checks

Options
Does anyone know if motoring convictions show on a CRB check:confused:

A couple of years ago I let someone test drive my old car I was selling, police stop them and there was no insurance on the car. So i got taken to court, found guilty, got a nice big fine and 6 points on my licence.

Anyway, I am starting to look for a new job and the jobs I will go for will require a CRB check. I will not need to drive on these jobs. If I go for an interview I will be honest and say about this conviction as I know I will look a lot worse if I didn't but I would just like to know if it will show on a CRB check and how long do they show for?

I was told by a poilice officer that motoring offences don't show up on a crb check. Hope that helps.

Somebody else has told me that but surely if the offence is something like death by dangerous driving, or drink driving I would be very surprised if these didn't show up.

I think it may depend on what type of check, standard or enhanced.
I work with adults with learning disabilities, and we have to have the enhanced disclosure. I'm fairly sure that people applying for jobs have had motoring fines show up on these, but I don't know what the timescale is - if you don't put it on, it can hold up the length of time the disclosure takes to come through, which employers don't always appreciate.

As an employer, I would appreciate your honesty, and we don't let people drive unless I have checked their insurance, mot etc anyway.

Working with children probably needs the enhanced disclosure, so your fine probably will show up. The main barrier to employment working with kids or vulnerable people is whether or not you are of good character, have the right values/skills and can be trusted not to take advantage of them.
If you have a good explanation for your conviction, nothing has happened since, and your employer can give a good reference, you should be fine. Good luck.

Why did you get a conviction, the driver was at fault..?

It was for permiting someone to use my car when it had no insurance, it was up to me to check if he had any, he also got into trouble and got a fine and 8 points if i remember right for driving with no insurance

This kind of offence will show up on all disclosures. It is not old enough to be "spent" (a fine is 5 years) and all offences show on an enhanced. If it had been a speeding fine it would not show as it is a civil offence.
:hello: Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want:hello:

  • I had an enhanced disclosure done as I work in a nursery and my speeding conviction didn't show up.
