ctc, i think theyve really overpaid!

Hi, il ring the office today and wait for my new entitlement in the post too and record everything!

I updated claim last wednesday and have received 2 amounts today of just under 60 and just over 60.

I have 2 children now, one is 2 and the other is 3 weeks old.

I was previously getting 10.23 per week for one child.

Seems like too much they have paid?

What does anyone else think? Im not touching it just in case!

Thanks

It's always difficult to gauge it when a change has just taken place - you always seem to get random amounts to start with! Have you informed them that you're on mat leave and used the £100 SMP disregard maybe? Mat leave always has a big impact on your TCs. Ring them up, take down the name of the person you speak to and follow up with a letter outlining the conversation - not entirely a full proof plan, but should help if problems do arise :)
  • Put the money into a savings account, just in case you do have to pay it back. having said that, I agree with LL30 that maternity leave, and the lower income that results from being on leave, may well be the reason for increased payments. When an award is reassessed, it isn't unusual to get two similar payments in the first week of the new award.

Oh, and congratulations on the birth of your little one :)
  • Thanks! No post today so il see what comes tomorrow!

I think you also get a First Year Allowance for the first year of a child's life (or at least you did a few years ago when my youngest was teeny).

Yes, you are right, the current government stopped the baby element, so it won't be that.

Hopefully, all will become clear when you receive your award in the post. Changes in circumstances always seem to throw up random payments.
  • BAck pay maybe?

But there is the extra child amount...that's probably what it is. Previously the OP probably only got the family element.

OP - put your details into the turn2us calculator to check: https://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk/entitlementcalculator.aspx
