I am just another mere mortal.

    http://whois.domaintools.com/myshopcoupon.com

Shows the name was created 3rd Sept this year.

There are quite a few other Whois sites around - domaintools is just the one I have a habit of using, for no reason other than habit.

[Incidentally, some companies now offer "privacy services" which hide the domain information. IIRC Godaddy (the one with the allegedly elephant-murdering CEO) is one such service provider. I tend to stick to the rule that if the domain info is hidden, I don't trust it.]
  • I read this forum often, so it is about time I gave something back for all of the help I received, so here goes:

There is some really god advice on this page, but I expect that recommending another brand would "fall on deaf ears" (if you pardon the pun) if your son has set his heart on them. Dr Dre's are not that bad at all, a lot better than anything that comes with an MP3 player, but not as good as some of the more professional brands recommended here. Dr Dre's have a lot of bass on them, which is what some people want.

Anyway, on to the issue of fakes. There a lot of fake Dr Dre's around and whilst I would never condone buying fake anything, they are probably not worth more than £35-£40, so you are seriously being ripped off at the prices on the fake sites, and also supporting illegal activity.

On the Dr Dre website there is a "Beware of Counterfeits" button on the bottom left of the first page. This links to a list of blacklisted sites (I would post a link, but as I am a newbe I cant), there are lot of them and as FWOR points out, they probably multiply on a weekly basis, as there is a lot of profit to be made.

Basically, steer clear of any retailer you have never heard of and you should be OK. You wont find big discounts on these headphones, so look around for codes on the retailer instead if you want to save anything.
  • To reiterate what the other posters have said, you'll get no less quality spending half as much on a pair of Sennheiser HDs, like the HD25s for example. But I have teenagers myself and I understand that fashion is always more important than function, however galling that is to a parent. However, I also know teenagers love cash, so why not offer to split the savings with him? He gets some great sennheiser headphones plus £50 quid cash, while you save £50 quid overall. ;)

If its to do with "whats cool" he should really check out what all the pro djs and DMC scratch champs are wearing. For £142 these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-II-Closed-Headphone-headband/dp/B000TDZOXG which are awesome, and look much cooler. I normally go for Sennheisers, have used some cheaper £50 ones from them and still found the quality to be great
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
