    http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/464/~/f5d8053-n-wireless-usb-adapter---drivers

download them from this page, belkin's own site. Pick one that is a driver only, and covers his operating system :)

When you click to download, then choose Save and save it to desktop so you can find it ;)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

yes, it does. That's why I said "Pick one that is a driver only, and covers his operating system"

read the descriptions - it says if it's a driver or a driver + utility, and which operating system it works with. Pick the latest (highest number) that is only a driver and works with his OS :)

whoops..... i got a bit carried away with everything and i didnt look properly :o
( slinks away to look properly....and do some downloading :D)
  • He has managed to get the driver software on to his computer.... However.....
when it said to plug in the usb device... the computer makes a warning tone, and says "device not installed"
He has gone to devices & printers, and there is a warning triangle on the device. He has troubleshooted it, and after "fixing the problem" it says driver missing from this device..

so all the softwares are working and im begining to think its the actual wireless dongle that is the problem as the computer will not install it... and there was no cd to install when it came..
    Its a model - F5D8053 v6

totally uninstall it and delete the driver (that is installed) during that process if it gives you the option. Reboot without the dongle in. Plug in dongle, let windows install it, poiny]ting it to the driver if needs be. DO NOT run the driver you have downloaded, let windows pick it up and install it itself

The next time...there is absolutely no need to lose data if the computer 'goes down'. You should have consulted here first.

This is the Driver that you need. Save it to USB as suggested and take it over to the other PC. Whilst installing you may have the option to install the Driver only. You can take that option if he is happy for the OS to handle the wireless connection.
Make sure that the download is complete before removing the USB flash drive or dragging the file over to the flash drive.

i know i know..... i am not entirely sure what happened but it kept asking son about factory restore.. ( it never gave him to option of anything else, restore point or anything) so he thought he was doing the right thing in taking it to a computer man, who had to completley install windows again and so son lost everything.....( apart from what was on his data sticks ).....
to be honest, i thought computer man would fix it and have managed to keep everything on it.....but that's just me, what do i know.....
