Having read through this thread it occurs to me that I don't carry anything which would enable anyone to verify my age.
We all evolve - get on with it
  • A few years back when I was 27 I was asked for ID for a lottery ticket. Wouldn't have minded, but I had regularly bought ciggarettes in their shop from the same person for about 5 years and they never asked me for ID for those!
I never got asked for ID to buy alcohol until I could legally buy it. Had no probs buying boozed between the ages of 15 - 18.
I must be aging in reverse :)

Under due diligence I thought stores are supposed to keep a log of when they refuse people. But do they? Also some stores quote a driving licence is adequate, but then go on to accept the highly improbable International driving licence which are freely available to buy as forgeries on the net.

I'm on the cashiers side here. I worked in cinemas ten years ago, when there was no national ID scheme. The amount of parents willing to lie to get their child in was sickening.
Customer: "Are you calling me a liar?"
    Me: "Yes"
"Don't critisise what people look like, how they speak, where they are from, and what they are called. They cannot help it.
Do critisise what they say, and what they do, especially if what they say is different to what they do. They can help that"

Lol...I do that too (much to the disgust of my son).

I usually say....'go on..ask me' and when the poor checkout peeps look completely confused, I tell them I'm offended that they didn't ask if I was over 18. They then look even more confused (as it's well obvious I'm over 18) and they smile at me nervously. By this time my son has marched off with a red face over to his mum (who is quietly 'dancing' to the store music and huming along while she does it........cue son stomping outside cos both his 'olds' have embarassed him). :rotfl:

So, to all those who are of legal age but get asked anyway, revel in it! Age brings it's own rewards, not least the ability to see humour in a situation where maybe those of a more tender age cannot. :D

    Are you my dad??

I get asked for ID all he time and I'm 27!! It's very embarassing, especially when I don't have any ID on me.
I once went clubbing with my cousin who's 17 and she sailed past the bouncers and they stopped me to check for ID!
What makes me laugh is when I was 16/17 I never used to get asked.
