We didn't want a buffet with all the upping and downing (probably over-exaggerated in my mind, yes!) but as we're in a village hall with limited facilities, we can't have a traditional sit-down either. So eventually we've found someone who will do a hog roast served to the table - we struggled to find anyone who could even understand the concept!

Oops, totally forgot which thread I was in!
Edited to say: thank you for starting this - it's really great to see what people treasured in retrospect, and to pick up some tips for making things go more smoothly for those of us yet to come!Life on a shoestring!0 -

I tend to agree with this - I like the idea of our guests having a nice chat over a very tasty sit down meal. And with plently of wine on the tables the conversations will get interesting I'm sure

We tried our meal on Tuesday and we were blown away. It was absolubtly delicious and the wines were great too. It is an expensive option, but to us and to our families and friends I know that this part of the day will be really enjoyed. Hopefully they will enjoy it all - I have put a lot of thought into making it not just a great day for both of us but for the guests too. My friends keep asking if it is normal to be so excited about someone else's wedding!
