  • You should have checked the price in the shop before booking online then. They wouldn't make any money if they let folk cancel left right and centre because they found it cheaper online. Accept it and move on.

    mmmm i think not.

  • I've just booked a Thompson hol priced at £620 for £425 :D

That's thanks to Sloppychops and Saveapenny's advice to look at booking a DIY.:T

I've got the same Thompson flight and the same Sol Melia hotel, but booked both direct. My price also includes airport transfers.

Another advantage by booking direct with Sol Melia there is no up front payment. Being a hotel reservation/booking it can be cancelled.

As above, would you have offered to pay the difference if it was more expensive?! Why were you in the shop checking after you had booked anyway? No offence, but at least now you know that the internet is not always cheaper. If the net had of been cheaper, we/travel agents can 9/10 match it now anyway, you have just learnt the hard way sadly. Better luck next time :)

I tried booking a villa last week online but at final page, error message to phone a number. It was out of office hours so had to wait but next day money was showing as paid in our bank statement. Later this payment disappeared so phoned bank who found no detail of tranaction then phoned Thomson who said the villa was still available and my transaction had not gone through. Phoned Thomson and spoke to accounts who have no detail of tranaction.

Decided to try the Thomson Travel shop. Told them what had happened and they said they could usually beat the internet price, great, but no they quoted me a £1000 more!!!! Off back home and online to try again. Same villa, same price, again last page error phone number. Phone and get very helpful person only to find Ive booked the villa twice:confused: . No probs they say they will cancel other booking.

I think I have now booked a villa as it is still showing as paid (in full) on my bank statement. Dont know if Ive got a bargain or not but for family 2 adults, 16 year old and 14 year old for a villa with private pool for 7 days in July for just over £1600, includes flights and car hire. Doh, the holiday is to Majorca

I got a website price from thomsons. Went in thomson shop and they said "OK we'll match it and do you a deal on insurance". Took printout into Thomas Cook and they matched the price and did free insurance.

The Thomsons terms and conditions specifically give them the right to change prices up and down. Ironically (depending on agent) if you had booked at shop and then found cheaper price they would probably have matched this (Coop travel did this once with me to Majorca)
