Just bought myself an Ipod which is my first apple product.
Just wondering is there any other software programme that allows you to transfer music to the ipod other than itunes?
I'm asking this as I downloaded and installed the latest itunes yesterday and transferred my music onto it, but its messed up my albums and is displaying each album broken down into individual tracks and refused to list the album in the same way as WMP does:(
From this I'm worried that just single tracks will be synced with the ipod and not complete albums, which for me will be a pain as most of my music are dj mix cd's, so I need to keep the continuity so the mix isn't broken up:)

itunes is pretty rubbish in some respects. Just google "itunes alternatives" or similar , make sure they apply to your device.
Mediamonkey springs to mind . . but I don't use apple stuff.0 -
Try clicking on the album, artist and name icons at the top of the library list.
There are a few options there which may display the library list as you want it.0 -
I found this problem with itunes. You will need to highlight all fragments from one album using CTRL and clicking, then right click info and change the album name and artist to whatever it should be and then all tracks will be part of the same album.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £19,575.020

Thanks, I was playing around with this yesterday and things just went from bad to worse:(Abbafan1972 wrote: »I found this problem with itunes. Thanks I will give that a go later:)0 -
I use Media Monkey
works great with my iPod Classic, my Android phone etc... It loads superfast, and isn't an over-bloated piece of software like iTunes (which I absolutely hated using) http://www.mediamonkey.com/

At the top, just to the left of the 'Search Music' Tab you can change the layout of iTunes.
There are 4 icons each meaning the following:
As a List - In any order you choose
By Album/Album Artist - Each album is displayed with its cover and track listings
By Cover - Each album is shown by only cover art and Title
Visualiser - Similar to cover flow on iPod Touch.
But as another poster has said. Make sure all the albums use the same Artist, Album Name, Track #, I also include Album Artist, so that Compilations are organised by Album name rather than Artist.
eg. (Artist) Foo Fighters + (Album) Wasting Light = (Album Artist) Foo Fighters
(Artist) Foo Fighters + (Album) Radio 1's Live Lounge = (Album Artist) Radio 1Tech Savvy Student trying to help and learn

<iTunes rant>
It never ceases to amaze me how bad iTunes really is. I had to use it to get some stuff on to my grandson's iPod touch [1].
This involved yards and yards of downloads and apple crap all over the PC - including Bonjour and other start up stuff - now hopefully cleaned off.
Considering the amount of time and effort Apple has spent developing iPods and the like, for a mature product Itunes is atrocious.
Funny that you rarely see threads here complaining about Creative [2], Sansa and Sony [3] players, which all use drag and drop and can be easily synced from the Windows Media Player.
I suppose the prime use for Itunes is to sell music from the Apple store to apple mac / iThing owners - that bit is probably really slick.

[1] Nice interface on the Ipod, shame the cost
[2] So saying Creative Centrale really sucks on Win 7, but I just use WMA instead.

Well I have iTunes10 and along the top of the playlist you can choose how you want the list, by artist, album, genre etc. It looks as if you have the list numerically which I seem to remember was the default on a previous iTunes.
As for usability all you do is make a playlist and drag-drop onto the ipod icon, what could be simpler?0 -

Tell us HOW you 'transferred your music' into iTunes? Add files to library? Add folder to library? Rip CD?
If you don't like the way iTunes has it organised, can't you delete it from iTunes (assuming you have it all stored elsewhere) and reload it?
Just because you've loaded iTunes once, doesn't mean you can't do it again0
