finally easymobile is launch! 15p anytime, any network and 5p sms. looks OK except for the exceptions!
"Exceptions.
Minimum usage: easyMobile demand a minimum usage of £5
during a 3 month period. If this minimum usage is not
upheld we charge a fee of £0.75 pr month until the
minimum usage demand is met."
personally, i think fresh mobile from CPW is better

Yes, but only if you have a 18866/1899 account set up and you use it for all landline calls.
Calls within-network with Tesco are charged the same as xnet calls, with Virgin within-network calls are charged the same as landline calls.
Weekday daytime/evening xnet calls with Tesco still cost 20ppm (there's no saving using 18866/1899) whereas using Virgin and telesavers they are 15p.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -

Correct that you need to have a 1886/1899 account and you need to use it for mobile to landline calls. In doing that you would realise the benefits I pointed out.
Correct that weekday/evening xnet calls with Tesco are 20ppm. But Saturdays and Sundays could be reduced to 12ppm with 1899.com. Therefore you are incorrect in that there is no potential for saving on the xnet rate.
There would be an additional notional benefit if you needed to make international calls. Again, calls to several countries could be made for as little as 11ppm.0 -
student100 wrote:Virgin Mobile (who also use the T-mobile network) charge 15ppm for first 5 mins a day of calls to landlines/other Virgin Mobile phones then 5ppm afterwards, and you can call xnet for 15ppm through telesavers etc (see this thread). No line rental or monthly minimum.
Also they have FREE access to voicemail, excellent customer service and you can pay by e-topup, credit/debit card, or direct debit. If you pay by direct debit you also get itemised billing either by mail or online at no extra charge.
and no I don't work for Virgin Mobile, I'm just a satisfied customer...
And finally, for a company website to misuse apostrophes is inexcusable...
Good point but if you (like I do) do allot of texting then theres a massive difference from 5 pence per text to 10 pence per text!!!!0 -

Yes I suppose that is very true. Virgin do let you text other Virgin phones for 3p/text, but I seem to find that most of the people I text (admittedly not that many) are on different networks.
I guess it just goes to show, the cheapest company for one person will not necessarily be the cheapest for another.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
- Tesco uses O2
- I think Fresh uses O2
Interesting. I'm on Tesco and Easy is 15p while I'm paying 20p.
To simplfy things I go simply by weekday x-call rates only (including connection fees).
The minumum call cost is essential.Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0 -
Tesco uses O2
- Fresh uses T-Mobile
Minimum call charge on Tesco 5p, still not got a definitive answer from Fresh on whether they have a minimum charge.
Regardless of the special promotions of easyMobile and Fresh, Fresh is the best one because they do not have the extras such as top-up fees, low usage etc.
Rather than mess around with 18866, just think whether the call is needed to be made on a mobile, if not wait till you get home and use 18866 at just 1p.
