Comodo Not Shutting Down Properly

I use Comodo for my firewall and when I shut down computer it always tells me that cfp.exe cannot be closed down and even though I force close process the computer takes up to 5 minutes to shut down (it does get there eventually).

I have tried searching for information, I know that cfp is part of Comodo, and there are people who report the same problem but I haven't found any solutions.

If anybody can help then I would be very grateful

obvious answer - uninstall it and use windows firewall, your machine will probably run much better as a result.

I can't help I'm afraid but I have also had this problem. Not every time but more times than I'd like.

I had considered windows firewall but really like the security that the Comodo+ adds keeping a track of what programs have what permissions.

Also windows firewall doesn't check outgoing stuff. I know that I am being a bit paranoid - but best to be safe than sorry. I followed your advice (closed) on speeding up my machine though - thanks for that.
  • Hi,

    what version are you on?

I've got, 5.5.195786.1383, and no problems.

Good AV is the best protection, outgoing firewalls come at the expense of performance. post a hijackthis log if the machine is still slow.

  • I've never had this issue with Comodo, I can only suggest seaching/posting on the Comodo support forums for an answer.

Not true. Comodo's free firewall is an excellent piece of software.

Which anti-virus software are you using? If it happens to be AVG then try Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

Comodo I find too intrusive. Windows firewall CAN block outgoing too. You might like the freeware Windows Firewall Notifier to simplify matters.

I am using AVG as the virus checker - does this clash with bits of the comodo firewall? Reading around the web people seem to be saying that AVG is getting bloated, do people agree?

I am still using Win XP on an old machine but have got 2.5GB RAM, no need to upgrade any more as the machine is fine for Excel and internet use which is what I use the most.

Should I go to all Comodo for security, or use Avast for virus checker?

Thanks for all replies so far
