Shouldn't keep your freezer empty - it's really expensive to run. Fill it up with empty boxes and/or bread to keep running costs down. In your situation I think it ought to be empty boxes for the time being!

I do know that, but I'm a Bad Fresian ;) I'm going to fill it tomorrow with carrier bags, which is what I did before. Thanks for the reminder :)

That being said, I'm always wary of freezing bread for some reason. How long does it keep when you defrost it?

Donald Russell meat is brilliant quality, but it's not cheap unless you get a good offer (like the mince one I've done) Keep an eye out for sales there. I luckily managed to get a code for free delivery, as otherwise it's £5 (!!)

I've written out my shopping list for tomorrow, and am hoping to keep it around £15-20, hopefully less. I don't need a huge amount of food, but Mr Fresian is good at adding things to the list that I wouldn't normally buy. On the bright side, he's agreed to give Aldi cornflakes a try, because I refused to buy Kellogs :D

Aldi is the mutts nuts to be honest. I would go there over Tesco/Sainsburys every time :D

DFW - I'm a Bad Bad Fresian who hasn't meal planned at all yet. As proven by tonight's planned dinner of fish fingers :o I love your way of doing it though, so might try that this weekend. No promises though!

:rotfl:I have made the decision to do my week's shop in the mutts nuts tomorrow :D Not only have I do an inventory and meal planned, I have meal planned for the MONTH! Completely unheard of for me. I have also set out my shopping list for each week. I rely on money paid weekly for shopping and other things, but am going to gradually move things so I can do a bulk shop. Am feeling very pleased with my little self :D

You could actually save us all a bit of cash f_f and start sending usfood parcels with your stash :p
One step at a time ;)
  • we dont have a mutts nuts close enough to make it worthwhile which is a darned shame, but on the plus side, I do have a voucher for £6 off a £30 shop at the local Cshop, so thats something !

why do men insist on adding things that arent necessary??!!!

I have no idea. Mr Fresian is trying to be a bit better about it though - I think that all my nagging is paying off :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

If I find reduced cakes/goodies, I do try and bring them home for him though.

Thats just easing landfill problems, so its enviromentally friendly.

I try not to take him with me to be honest, its much easier that way & I can demand a cuppa be made the moment I get home to help me deal with the stress of supermarkets at weekends....or any day with a y in ...

Mr Fresian is actually quite good for my budgeting...he needs to know what we're going to the shop for. If I stop to look at anything else he stand beside me and shouts "NO! MOVE ON!" He's a bl00dy embarrassment, but it gets me moving :rotfl::rotfl:

Because I live a long way from shops (nearly 20 mile round trip) I buy my bread every other week and find it keeps well for up to a week in the fridge after defrosting, however I don't tend to use the crusts as they seem to dry out too much!
