She is posting loads of horrible stuff, and putting our phone numbers on and there appears to be nothing we can do.

There is a fine line between someone being a pain, and causing hurt and upset through harassment. If she is posting your home phone number I would say she has crossed the line. I'd be tempted to remind her that harassment and malicious communication are criminal offences, and if she doesn't stop, you can contact the police. They probably won't do a great deal, but even if they just go round and have a word that should be enough to shut her up?0

Get him to sign up again in a new account, go through the friends list on the old account and re-add people with the message that his ex has changed his password and blah blah blah... and ask people to unfriend him on that account.
Either that or go round and nut her0
