Sons facebook been hacked what should I do

Can anyone help please, my sons facebook has been hacked his password and email have been changed, and someone is sending abuse on it to people and it will cause lots of trouble and possibly put my son in danger.

How old is your son? Who is the abuse being aimed at, and do you know who has hacked the account? If people you know, why not contact them and let them know what has happened.

Thanks for the replies, my son is 18 and it is his ex girlfriend who has hacked his account. The profile picture has been changed and is an offensive cartoon style image, his connected email address and password have been changed. I have been on to the facebook help and reported it, but all the reset passwords and emails go to the "new" email address which he does not know.

He's 18, and adult and presumably able to use a computer, so why not let him sort this out himself?

Presumably she's set the email to her own address or a new webmail address that she has set up. How do you know 100% it was her who hacked it?

I am guessing she already had access to his email or FB account? Has anyone tried to contact her?

Unfortunately, she has caused lots of trouble and will be nothing but abusive if I try and contact her. But she knew lots of his details and has prob guessed the others, and has already changed the answers to his security question that was asked by facebook. It appears from the facebook address which can only be partially seen on facebook that this is a new hotmail account she has set up.

So, chances are it's not been hacked at all? Just another case of poor password security.

We are all certain that it her that has hacked it, as there are lots of postings going on, on the account, my daughter posted on the wall, that the account had been hacked and this is deleted as soon as she posts it.

As a security precaution, Facebook only grants account access to people who can send or receive emails from an email address associated with the account or who have previously set a security question and can correctly answer it. Unfortunately, since you were unable to answer your security question correctly, we will not be able to grant you access to the account at this time.
So I really dont have any ideas what to do, and am worried trouble may come to my home where I also have young children, so would be grateful of any ideas.
