No Temp in my electric Oven

I have an electric oven (Whirlpool) which was in the flat when I bought it last April. It had been working perfectly until one day I saw a spark in the oven. Since, when I try to pre-heat the oven, there is no temperature. The digital clock, grill and fan works. I rang Whirlpool and they charge £85 for the call out plus whatever repair they will carry out which I personally think its a rip off. I strongly believe it is an eletronic fault, I am thinking of getting an electrictan round. What is your advice?

last 2 times mine went it tripped the main fuse !!

The above poster is correct, it is the element or a wire to the element that may have burnt off.

This happened to me a couple of years ago. I got a new element from a local parts retailer (cost about £25). The back of the oven (inside) just screwed off and the element simply slotted into place. Having found out how easy it was I was really glad that I hadn't paid Neff £90 call out plus parts. I would certainly reccommend seeing if you can get to the element easily and if you can't try someone local if you can.
