More Sad Than A Rant

Hi All,
Just a quick message.
I've started a DFW Diary this week and it's fair to say it's had it's peaks and troughs, but mostly I've been up beat, however today I got a little sad when I was thinking of stuff to sell to help clear my debt.
One of these things is my bass guitar. I haven't used it in years, but it's been in my room and it is really sentimental, not only does it remind me of my youth (I feel so old this week!
) but also I started bass when my dad was still here. He's not anymore
So to be on a downer, but it has really affected me....

Hey Greensaints
Just because your a DFW it doesn't mean you have to sell everything.
On this journey we still need some pleasures to keep us going so blow the dust off that guitar and get playing again. You never know, it might just bring back some happy memories and a smile to your face!
Hope you feel cheery soon

I totally agree with Sukimia!
When I was in debt a few years ago I sold everything I had. Engagement ring, sentimental pieces of jewellery and lots of bits and bobs I had from growing up, things I got with my wage from my first real job, things I bought for my first house, the list goes on!
I still have pangs for those things now and I promised myself I'd never go down the road of selling things close to my heart again
You can be a DFW and still have things you love and enjoy around you! There are so many ways you can change your lifestyle to help you with your goal. Keep the guitar:A
Good luck :T xx

I've had a peek at your DFD (I'm not stalking
) and you seem to be doing OK.
You can save money by not buying take-aways and meal-deals, instead prepare stuff at home.
What I'd do is think how much money the guitar might bring in and then consider if selling it would make that much difference to your debt, compared with the sentimental attachment to it.
I can't relate to your guitar but I know there's stuff I've had for years - like a silver bangle that I bought when I first started work (almost 41 years ago) and wore almost all the time for years - that I wouldn't really like to part with unless I really, really needed the money.
Why not get your guitar out and have a play - that might make your mind up for you.0 -
Well you may aswell just leave it untill the bailiffs come and come and take all your stuff.
Well aren't you a gem. Kick a guy when he's down. Bravo :shhh:
Op, keep the guitar. Play it and let the music help you escape your woes. If you're good enough maybe consider teaching others/playing for a bit of spare cash? Good luck.0 -
keep the guitar and go busking to earn a few quid. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0

it's difficult to busk with a bass guitar
i sympathise though, i'm not in the position where i need to become a dfw, but the thought of selling my basses saddens me to the corehelpful tips

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies.
I feel a lot better today. Had a chat with my mum and I think I'm on the road to being DF, without selling everything that's not nailed down!
Even if you could busk with a bass, I think I'd be paid to stop. Though money is money!DEBT FREE SINCE 25.07.14!
