Paypal eggtimer query

I sold an item on Ebay earlier this week and have noticed that on the payment section there is an eggtimer and it says payment is being processed.
Could someone please explain what this means as I've never had this before?
I'm assuming I don't post the item yet?
Thank you.

It will be an echeque, they take around 5-7 days to clear. If you click on details on the transaction in your paypal acct, it will tell you the expected clear date.
Don't post until paypal tell you to.
It's a good idea to let the buyer know as some don't realise that payment is through an echeque, especially if they're new to ebay.0 -
Thank you, I have messaged the seller to let them know.0

Despite messaging the seller I haven't had a response.
My ACTIVITY page for the sold items is still showing the egg timer symbol and when I hover over this it says "payment was initiated on 11.10.11. and is being processed by Paypal".
That's 7 days now, any more ideas on what I can do?
When I go to my Paypal account nothing is showing for this item.0 -
I normally find that it's 10 days. Don't do anything until it says cleared. This can also happen when someone's credit card that is linked to their account expires, causing an e-cheque to be sent instead.0

It may take a little longer, all you can do is wait & see if it clears as far as I know.
I take it you messaged the buyer?0 -
Its good you have messaged the seller to advise as its right what has already been said that many dont realise they have initiated an echeque, most usually a bank transfer. Paypal prefer these as they dont incur a card processing fee and buyers have to select an alternative funding method to avoid echeques.
If the buyer is not responding assume they are happy waiting for the echeque to clear. Sometimes they fail in which case you would need to email them again and ask them to make payment once again, preferably by linking a card to their paypal account. Dont post until its definately cleared.0 -

Are you sure this is an echeque and not a payment gone to the wrong account?
OP, have you had the usual email from paypal to say that you have receievd payment as that will definitely say whether this is an echeque or not.
Also an echeque will still show in your paypal account but funds will not be included in your balance. If the payment isn't in your paypal account then it isn't an echeque.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Log in to your Paypal account and if its an echeque payment that has yet to clear it will have a little red flag next to it.0
