Its always best to ensure you have the agreement from the buyer first before using up a request - this is what ebay recommend too. Unfortunately you probably have just wasted one.
Never raised one before as this is my first negative, and Ebay Customer Support suggested I raise the request.

At times Ebay can mess with your head. I had a buyer from Greece who left me a negatvie saying the item was 2cm smaller than advertised. I measured the remaining stock and my listing was ok.
I dropped them a message basically saying they should have contacted me first and we could have sorted out any issues with refunds etc. He replied with a message saying My listing was not true, you are a liar lair liar and repeated that about 50 times!!
I expected him to hammer my stars but he didn't!!0 -
It's easy to get obsessed with the stars, isn't it? It does worry me because there is so little room for mistakes etc. As I said upthread, I've seen a couple of competitors who have been left really unfair feedback (and presumably stars too) which looks like it has put their TRS etc at risk. Very unfair as they look like very decent sellers to me.

The stars are less of an issue if you sell in higher volumes. You can absorb a few more unfair or malicious low stars as the percentages are lower and you are also rated over a 3 month period (rather than 12) so the stars drop off quicker. I've been lucky enough to only receive a handful of unfiar/malicious stars over the last year and I seem to be providing a good enough service to have very good star ratings from everyone else. I still keep a close a eye on it though as everyone should.0

That's what worries me - the fact that I don't sell enough to be evaluated over 3 months. I've been lucky enough to only have 1 low star in the past, and that was completely unfair - buyer said item wasn't new, but it was (it was a console game won in a competition, new from the retailer). Still, their opinion I suppose. Would have only taken another 2 of those kind of transactions to get my account in trouble, quite mad really.
Still, most of my customers are really lovely. It would be good if I could sell enough to get to 3 month evaluations but I don't think it is going to happen any time soon

Thats been my saving grace. Increased sales and hitting Silver meant my reviews are done over 3 months instead of 12. I would not be a TRS based on 12 months
I got my first ever despatch low stars yesterday (see Dispatch v ... thread) and my stuff is posted same day or next day if its after my 4pm cut off point or Personalised where extra time is needed.0 -
Can the buyer just request to amend their feedback, or do I need to send them the request? Been reading on ebay's help pages and it looks like I have to do it.

Why is the seller required to send a request to the buyer?
It allows the seller to control the process. The seller can choose to send the request only when they are confident the buyer has agreed to change the feedback.0 -

Have had a neutral overnight saying item was damaged and packaging poor. Bit surprised as item was boxed and it isn't delicate at all, however no reason to doubt buyer so probably is. Item was sent by courier so entirely possible they damaged in transit.
I have emailed the buyer to ask what happened and apologised. I deleted my first email asking them why they didn't contact me first (!) and sent a very nice one, just wish they had contacted me. I have very nice t&cs, message in item etc, but no just the feedback. I bet my DSRs are bad too
I don't want to annoy buyer more, but thinking of offering partial refund if they send pic of item, does that sound reasonable? Or if it's completely ruined I'll refund in full of course.
Any suggestions welcome, has anyone had any luck calling buyers in this situation? Don't want to go overboard but I'm upset.0
