Then if the egg timer appears in Ebay you should be able to click on the order details and it will tell you how the buyer has opted to pay.
I only see the egg timer if there is a pending echeque (which shows in Paypal) or if it is a cheque or PO and the buyer has marked it as 'sent'. This should show on the order as 'buyer has marked payment as sent'.0 -

If the seller insists they have paid then ask them to forward you the email confirmation they got from Paypal. If they can't do that, ask them to log into their Paypal account and give you the appropriate transaction id. Chances are they can't do either.
Keep the NPB case open and if they cannot prove payment then follow it through.
You could offer them the oppurtunity to pay via bank transfer instead.0 -

Thanks all, buyer has gone very quite after a very abrupt message yesterday, must be a problem with their account as I am receiving all other payments fine. I don't have the egg timer, I will give them another couple of days and if not sorted will just close the npb and relist0

You can close exactly at the 4th day point from case opening, when the option comes available to get your fees returned.0

You can always telephone paypal for further advice. After all, we do pay them lots of fee's. I would want some protection on this if things go pear shaped.
It is always the usual transactions that catch us out.0
