Dont give up.
Write them a letter stating dates, times, places etc of journeys, all your details and ask them what to do to get a refund.
They will find it harder to ignore a written request.
Send it as high up the chain of command as you can and tell them that the people you rang up were unhelpful.

Not got much to report in the way of saving as I have squirrelled away everything I can this month! We even went out for a pub lunch to celebrate DD1 birthday yesterday which is something we rarely do. I did check out the prices before we went though and we had a lovely time.I kept thinking I could have cooked it all cheaper at home tho...
A big thank you for running this thread and keeping up with the totals slowlyfadingSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I would usually manage to save a grand, but not this month. The essentials you understand; £500 on car insurance, £150 on dentist/hygenist plus normal spending means a large credit card bill
(but its a cash back credit card, so its not all bad news
:D)
Will make up for it next month!
Well done everyone!!!0 -
Thanks for the suggestion Desperate Housewife.
My savings for this month are: £220.83 so not as much as I'd have liked but all things considered not a bad start. Onwards and upwards!2014 Savings Challenge #161: £6771.58 /£40000 -
Well done to everyone who has managed to save this month.
I will finalise my totals tomorrow, but if I am allowed, my totals for each month will effectively be change in net savings - ie: Savings less credit card debt.
Month was going well until the last couple of days. Had to get a plumber in today to fix our hot water - £100 later, though hot water is back mind. Also had my annual flat management charge letter through the post at the end of last week which I had forgotten about. Think I'm going to pay the 50% requested this month rather than early Feb, so that I get it out the way to concentrate on saving next month.
I was on target for saving at least £1k prior to that, so will be interesting when I work it out tomorrow how much I have saved.
Finally, what is everyone's opinion on including movements in shares in your total?
Personally I only think initial capital invested should count, not its latest value if it has gone up by X%? Just wanted to check as one of my shares has gone up a tidy amount this month, but feel it would be slightly wrong to include that, as it could quite as easily have gone up in Nov / Dec11 and therefore wouldn't have counted (plus it is only a paper gain as I haven't sold them yet).0 -

Hey there, its this one; http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/breakfast-bars-55 (not sure if that will work) but we didnt gave condensed milk so googled and made my own, I used what fruit we had in cupboard so no cranberries or peanuts (allergy) so used sultanas & chopped apricots. Boyf loved it too so will def be making regularly! (someone in the mealplan thread provided the link originally!)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
saved £1300 this month, so that's £1000 into the cash ISA and £300 into a Stocks and Shares ISA for my kids' university fund. Haven't set up the S&S ISA yet - still searching for the best platform for my needs.
To be honest I've overspent this month (took my eldest son to London for the day - he wanted to go on the train), but some Ebay sales, and some wins on the horses! have enabled me to cover the overspending.
More discipline next month:
1. I will start a sealed pot
2. I will cycle to work at least once a week, saving £7 in petrol each time I do this
Congratulations to everyone who has saved this month. My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Aug 16 £19519 Dec 16 £17708

I agree with you on this. Liquid capital gains only for me. Paper gains are just that - you're no richer until you sellMy Debt Free Diary I owe:

When I start putting extra cash into it in April, then I will count the money put into the ISA.I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0
