I thought i could only open one new ISA a year?

The rules are that you can only contribute to one ISA a year. You can open as many as you like which is why you must ask for it to be transferred as that doesn't break the rules.

Can you open an "online only" Halifax ISA by phone?

Not sure you can - which wold explain why the call centre didn't mention it.

Saying the paperwork had to be signed in England was the poor/wrong info I was referring to. And if there was a difference in the rates depending on how the product is opened/operated, I think they would surely have made the customer aware that there were different products.

However, it sounds like the OP was offered the 2.6% one, until they found he was in Scotland. It is "on-line only", so he would then have had to go off and open it on-line.

The branch/phone/internet one pays 2.4% in both BOS and Halifax. BOS do not offer the on-line only one.

I bank with halifax and opened a childrens account for my daughter although was BOS branded as in scotland.

I was told in branch that this would show on my halifax online although having a BOS sortcode.

Anyone know if this is correct and how long it would take to show.

They used to show up quite quickly, but I read somewhere else that there were/are a few problems with some accounts recently.

But yes, the BOS ones do show up on my Halifax log-in.

According to the call centre woman she could open the online only one by phone.

The online only means you have to run it online you cannot go into branch or use phone service.
