grooming your dog in the park and leaving the hair behind?!

We left a shed load of hair out this summer when we shaved our dog and the birds took the lot in 2 days, I was watching them collect it up, they were really filling their beaks with it. I don't think it would be bother me to see it in a public place.
We found a blown down nest in our garden and it was lined with our dogs hair. I can just imagine the baby birds hatching out and saying, "blimey it really stinks in here, has a dog been in?"Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. I brush my GSD and can get bags and bags of fur from him in one go. I do leave some out for the birds at times. I feel the OP was asking a reasonable question yet some of you were rather nasty with your replies.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0

It's not pleasant in this kind of thread, but it is worse when the OP has posted about a serious problem that they are very worried about and gets flamed and made fun of. Some people don't seem to care that they might be having a bit of fun with someone who is literally on the edge of despair.
It's a shame because there are some genuinely caring and informative people on here who could help them.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
I totaly agree, rude of her to leave it right in the entrance! should of been done off to the side. If a gardener was raking leaves they wouldn't leave it in the entrance would they?0

Funnily enough - just came back from a walk with Zara where I met people from London Wildlife Trust and mentioned this to them.
They said by al means leave the dog hair on the grass/bushes for the birds as this is a great "bedding" meterial for them.
But I also agree - not at the entrance where it can fly into people's faces....0 -
also, if its at the entrance it wont be private enough for the birds really..
too many passing people and the birds would find it hard to swoop down to collect it...
best to spread it out abit near the bushes..
all my brushed cat hairs go outside in the field ready for the birds...0 -
I'm the same, pick it up if on footpath but leave it if its in the undergrowth - my bugbear are the people who pick up the pooh, put it in the bag then leave it hanging on a branch??!!0

We have modern birds: we found plastic lined nests this year.....I think they were attempting waterproofing. Not as cosy or natural as pet hair fluff lined nests.0 -

Was chatting to a neighbour today and i'm glad its not just me that fines hair a bit gross, i hate getting it out of my brush and if its in the hoover it makes me feel horrible getting it out, so couldn't handle someone elses dog hair its horrible and greasy etc x0 -
Hm - I brush my dog on the yard and pick up all his hair and put it in the bin. I've never ever seen anyone leave the hair behind either so it would have puzzled me if i had saw it.0
