vga to scart, cheack out maplins there about a fiver. No need for jack for sound all done in vga lead.

Unless your using it on a permanent basis and want top end sound quality. But a VGA would give better sound than a small jack

No, VGA does not carry sound. So will need a 3.5mm jack to jack lead

What TV are you connecting to. Most modern LCD will have.

That cable on Maplin, wouldn't work for you anyway. That is a SCART to VGA, so comes from a scart output to a VGA input.

What you need is a 15 pin VGA to VGA (male to male) and a 3.5mm jack to jack lead (male to male)

From what i just searched, the sony bravia has a socket called rgb with a audio input below it, if your's has that then that is what you will be using.

The most common question i get asked while in work is how to connect there PC / Laptop to TV

  • Listen to neilwoods. He is right. VGA does not carry sound.
If your TV has a VGA socket:

then you need a VGA to VGA to connect the picture. (If not, it's more complicated)
If there is a 3.5mm socket next to the VGA socket, then a simple 3.5mm - 3.5mm cable will do the sound. A common alternative is to have twin audio inputs on the TV, like this.

    It depends on your TV.
    Hope this helps

Are you folks SURE that a VGA to regular SCART lead (as opposed to a VGA - Video convertor) will work? Doesn't the TV specifically have to accept VGA for this to be true? And since we don't know the model number of the TV.....
  • Quick solution can be given if laptop make/model and TV make/model given. eg.
Dell XPS L502X laptop, Toshiba Toshiba 1400RB TV.
Simply saying Dell laptop and Toshiba 17inch TV is not enough information.
