KINGSTREET? I'm sorry but what has a mortgage application got to do with this? I bought my house 7 years ago, ME, not me and my partner. There is only one name on my house deeds and that's mine.
I wasn't suggesting this was anything to do with YOUR mortgage.

I was pointing out when I key a mortgage application for a client, the first applicant is always the highest earner regardless of their gender. It seems to be insurance applications which take the male applicant as first life, although as has been mentioned earlier it's difficult to know if this is down to the individual responsible for the application input, or the insurer itself.

I'm still curious about insurable interest. You're not married and your partner isn't party to the mortgage? Do you have any children?

You may be right, but how do you know they're not married?

I don't. That's the reason it was phrased as a question. I guess I could have inserted a further question mark after the word married, but that would have looked pretty naff.

From the opening post, use of "partner" would indicate they aren't married but I thought I'd ask and check before making any assumptions.

Yes, of course. The other option would have been, "Are you married?" instead of asking "questions" which might be open to misinterpretation. Do you not think?

    Okey dokey.

I'll consider myself admonished and watch how I phrase myself in future.

Just as well you didn't say "calm down dear".
  • Firstly, Dave101t, I didn't fill in the form, the insurance broker did and he was a MAN. Secondly, Kingstreet, no we are not married but we do have children. Thirdly, dunstonh, I went quiet as I had other things to do as I am a woman and finally, Clifford_Pope, Titanic? Really? How often have you used that one deary?
