Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 13th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

morning all, its dark here oop north. No signs of the sun coming up yet.

Not sure what were doping here, going to attempt to make a meatless meatloaf today. Made potato duaphinous yesterday, ended up taking too long to cook. So ended up buying pizza from the supermarket after we picked up coddy (ds1) from school. He managed to miss his bus so we went to pick him up right smack in the middle of rush hour, poor kid was waiting ages. So yesterdays plan is now todays.

Apart form that , were just going to play by ear, got tons of tidying but just don't feel like flying.

    Have a good peeps!

    Morning kezlou,

Think the title of the thread may need changing thread title says wed 13th, and our sticky says Tues 11th :rotfl::o It is quite early :D

    Morning all,

Too dark here to see the weather, but its still very mild, sitting here in t-shirts last night, it will turn soon and be a shock for us.

Off to work today, which is busy, so all good, dinner tonight is fish chips and beans, and my shopping comes tonight, lets hope it comes earlier that last week :D

Will put dw on before I go, and do a wash tonight.

    Have good days all xx

Well what an exciting morning I've had & all before 7am, the trip to take hubby to the station included not 1 but 2 ambulances, with blue lights etc & an emergency stop that included screeching breaks & smoking tyres, the emergency stop was not connected to the ambulances it was a totally seperate occurance. Suffice to say that the lady who was too worried about missing her bus to see me coming, probably got to work on time but probably needed a change of underwear upon arrival.
I've missed the thread for the last few days, hugs to Molly & Bargain Bird.
Lamb chops for tea today, cooked on a bed of sliced cabbage & potatoes, in the Remoska to save putting the big oven on.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning chums still dark outside although not cold .Well I got the third year all clear from the clinic so three years into remission only two more to go thank goodness.Whilst there I said to the dr. that I had still got this cough that I had for the past two-three months and it was so irritating and two lots of anti bios hadn't cleared it up.Bad move that was .He said as your here pop down to the X ray dept and then to the medical assesment unit. This was at 11.00 I got out of the hospital at 6.45 last night clutching two lots of tablets and 6 injections to DIY in my tummy over the next week and an appointment that will be confirmed for early next week for a scan,an echo, and an spiromety test.I only had a bad cough but I'll give them their due they are thorough if nothing else.Apparently the Dr. could hear a 'basal crackle' whatever that is and wanted to be on the safe side.youngest DD walked down to the hospital after having her crown fixed and bless her stayed all day with me.Hopefully she said she will stick the wretched needle in nightly for me as I wasn't looking forward to doing that.Oh well that'll teach me to keep quiet about my cough in future.Today eldest Dd is popping in for coffee on her way to the bank this morning so I will get the lecture read to me 'I told you that cough had gone on too long etc...'I love her to bits but she can nag for England at times:D
Well time to get a wriggle on as I have the school run first thing
Hope today will be a more productive day than yesterday as I got nothing done at all
    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone,

Glad it is good news JackieO and at the risk of sounding like I am nagging, it is a good job that they are sorting out your cough>:D

Really dark here still but in a minute I am going to venture out into the garden and peg out the washing.

Packed lunches are made and the mince is out defrosting for tonights mince and dumplings, a proper autumn tea.

Off to work soon, hopefully a quieter day than yesterday. I got really annoyed with a child yesterday (well, a stroppy teenager) and I shouted at them. I very rarely raise my voice at work and the class were so astonished that they were almost silent for the rest of the lesson!

Hugs to all that need them.

    Anyone heard from Silvermaid recently?

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning all

So dark here, still mild though for now. Rubbish sleep, thought the night before was too good to be true.

JACKIEG sending hugs to you and yours.

Plan this morning is to blitz the bedrooms and wash bedding. Got the gym later and then work tonight. DS has requested meatballs and spaghetti for tea., so I guess we,re having that.

Have a good day all and hugs to all who need one.

Finally light - been up since 5, awake since 4.30! Dry-ish here, bit grey, though.

Got lots of jobs to do in town, then hope to crack on with making Christmas cards and presents this afternoon and evening. Never got chance to catch up on last few days, so not sure who's poorly or had bad news, really sorry but hope a hug or two will help a bit xxoo.

Have a good morning all, see you later.

    Morning everyone

Where is everyone? Hello you all out there?

Bargainbird - hope you ok, big hugs to you, you know we're here if you need us xxx
Be - just take it easy, and get plenty of rest xxx

Light cloud covering here this morning, cooler but still not cold. DH taking a day off as he has a cough and cold, hopefully he will go back tomorrow. Took DS1 to Drs yesterday after school as he's had several episodes of bad stomachs, I have to take him to have some blood tests and they are going to test to see if he has wheat/gluten intolerance - he's never had to have blood taken before so isn't too keen, but it does need to be done. :o

Wasn't particularly productive yesterday - need to do more today, but not sure how that will happen with DH home!!! If I can get all the washing done and dried that would be a good start - have to wait and see.

Did remember to get the pork chops out of the freezer to defrost so tonight's dinner will be pork chops, mash, veg and gravy. Also need to menu plan, write shopping list etc for shopping tomorrow. DS2 wasn't happy with his pizza (they only get a short lesson so it was a scone base, he thought he was going to make pizza like I do - I make proper pizza bases so he was disappointed with his cooking). Dinner was a mixture of DS2's pizza, HM quiche, HM potato bake, and corn on the cob.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

    Morning All,

Bethebee hope your feeling better today hun, I had kidney stones years ago and can honestly say it was the worse pain ever, much worse than labour:eek:
JackieG So sorry to hear about your BIL, hugs for you and your family.
Not sure which is the right thread but hopefully someone will combine them soon.
Picked up DGS at silly o clock this morning and he is currently eating his crispies watching Tweenies.
Today plan a long walk with DGS and we will pop into the post office on route. I have promised to make Chocolate crispy cakes with him today so need to pick up a bar of chocolate:D
Tea tonight is chilli, the boys play football on Thursday so they can just help themselves when they come in about 9ish. Hoping for a quiet evening with the remote to myself.
Want to get a parcel off to my son in Australia this afternoon when DGS goes down for his nap and going to write a list of the last few bits I need, just a few pressies.
I also want to start crocheting again now, I am not very good but I enjoy it and it keeps my hands busy and stops me snacking.
Have a good Thursday all Julie x
