Name change with Virgin...?

My flatmate in whose name is the broadband is going to move in a month or so. We've contacted Virgin and they say that to change it into my name it will cost £20 and tie us to a new 12 month contract. I cant say that I'm particularly impressed by the service (although the speed is good!) and at the moment it is very expensive: about £30 I think for phone, broadband and TV. Is it normal to begin a new contract with a name change...?

We only need broadband so I was considering moving. The problem is I assume we will need to get a BT line installed, pay some sort of line rental then find another broadband which will be as quick as cable. Any suggestions?!

If your flat mate is out of contract then it might be better for them to cancel and you to sign up as a new customer. You can take broadband only and also benefit by signing up through either quidco or topcashback.

I agree, its what I done when GF moved out.
