Advice on getting a Groupon refund please?

Hi,
A couple of days ago I purchased a Groupon deal for two Sound Asleep pillows for £20. The deal page AND the e-voucher that Groupon sent me both clearly state that the purchase price is inclusive of delivery. On trying to redeem the voucher, the company ( UK Bedding) are adding on a £4.99 delivery charge per pillow, adding nearly £10 onto the price of my Groupon deal.
I emailed Groupon yesterday requesting a refund, and they have offered to refund me in 'Groupon Credits'. However, I don't think this is really acceptable. I want my cash back, and feel that I have been misled, and that this deal was missold to me. Quite honestly, I want my money back because I don't plan on ever using Groupon again after this.
My question is, what are my rights when asking for the cash to be refunded back to my PayPal account? I'd like to know before I reply to Groupon demanding a full refund, not just Groupon credits that I won't use.
Thanks in advance :-)

I'd just be persistent asking for your money back - I got a refund to my bank account after buying a beauty treatment which stated it was at the nottingham branch but was actually in newark. I stated that the groupon page and the voucher both stated notts but the notts branch wouldn't honour it and got a refund no problem. If I were you I'd go along the same lines, or ask to speak to a manager as the operators are probably told to offer credit first so as to avoid losing the money.0

Thanks for the reply.
I just emailed Groupon asking for a refund to my pay pal account, stating that the voucher and groupon page stated that delivery was inclusive. I've rejected their offer of Groupon Credits, and pointed out that were my money in my account, I would not have 6 months to spend it before it expires. Hopefully they will refund me without too much hassle.0 -

Newark is in NOTTS so while you got your money back, technically that supplier did nothing wrong there, and groupon have refunded you just to close the complaint! THe Nottingham branch won't honour it as it wasnt their offer!
To OP: as they have misrepresented yours, you should be able to insist on money back. ALthough I wouldnt rule out using Groupon ever again - they only put the adverts which are agreed by the supplier - it is down to the supplier to clearly check the terms (I know this as about to do a Groupon offer myself - and believe me it is like jumping through hoops so I dont know how some companies get it wrong!)0 -

I think the poster used notts as shorthand for Nottingham, given they explicitly state "it was at the nottingham branch" previously.
Newark might be in Nottinghamshire, it is not in Nottingham.0 -

I get part of that, although I disagree with it. Anyone who uses "Notts" as shorthand for Nottingham needs an urgent geography lesson
However, as I live near Newark and work near Nottingham - 25 miles away in fact to my work (and have Groupon activated for same!) then if a beauty salon advertises their location as "Notts" (and all these adverts have the info on where the actual salon is, as I click them daily!) then it is not unreasonable for the Nottingham branch, who did not make the Groupon offer (and why would they, totally different markets) - would accept the offer on behalf of someone else!
Bottom line is - the Newark Branch placed a Groupon advert, it is unreasonable of a purchaser to buy that offer, then demand their money back as the nottingham branch didnt want to accept it (Bearing in mind it might be a franchise, or it might have been posted for a different reason - trade in Newark is very different to trade in Nottingham)
the post admitted the offer said "Notts" not Nottingham but suggests Nottingham and NOTTS are the same place and Nottingham should have accepted it, they are not. It's a big county
So I reiterate, this poster was lucky, easier to refund them than to have a complaint lingering on, especially as it doesnt really cost Groupon much.0 -

thanks thats correct, there is a branch of the salon in west bridgford which is a 10 minute journey from the city centre - the advert stated "West bridgford branch" with the address. when I rang them up to use my voucher they said "no its at the newark one the voucher is worded wrongly". Newark is around 1.5 hour journey each way by public transport from where I live, hence the refund, although I apologise that I did not make it as clear before.
OP if its only been a couple of days I really don't think you'll have much trouble getting a refund so long as you persist x0 -
ok, so thats a diff story. If it said West Bridgford (Notts!) and not Newark (Notts!) then that would be a very good reason for a refund. Neither of which is Nottingham (Notts!)0

Groupon I've found are a bunch of amateurs and are consistantly messing up. They had severe problems with their redeemnow website causing havoc for many customers. I'll not be using them ever again.0

Thanks for your help, everyone. I recieved a sheepish email from Groupon this morning, telling me that a refund was being processed. :-)0
