And about as bullet proof as a chocolate teapot on the stove.

Focus or a Focus or a Focus at that price range, Not entirely bullet proof but nothing at that price
will be but spares will be cheap. Fiesta maybe. But a fiesta will cost more than a focus and you can
probably buy a Mondeo thats 2 years newer than either for the same money.

But if you dint want a big car you pays yer money etc..

Agreed with a potential addition of a Mk5 Astra.

Focus, Civic, avensis(not the 1.8), corrola, mondeo, mazda 6, passat(tdi), Octavia, superb (not sure you'd get a superb for 2k but no harm trying), leon (tdi).

All of the above will do you well if you read up on the potential faults of each and pick the car carefully

There are lots of good cars on the market sub £2,000 but you havent posted up your location!

Look on the autotrader and ebay and take someone with you who knows a little bit about cars.

I have a 53 reg skoda octavia diesel with 147K that I am trying to sell for £1800 as I have replaced it with a newer car. Very economical, 12p a mile to run on diesel, £125 a year road tax and group 9 insurance.

Its no good to you if your in Scotland tho!
