URGENT Maths help please :) ratios

My 13 yo son is stumped on this question, and as its been a long time since i've done ratios :o i cant help on this part.

Write each of the following ratios in the form 1:n
(how do we find the n value?)

10 : 9
I think the answer should be 1 : 1.11111
based on 10 / 10 = 1
10 / 9 = 1.111111

can anyone correct and expain the correct working out please

the other part is in the from n : 1

12 : 25

there are more questions but if i post them all on here he will get the answer without doing it for himself :rotfl:.

TIA

    No it's 9/10, so 1:0.9

    and 12/25, so 0.48 :1

    If it's 10:9 it is worked out 10 divided by 10 : 9 divided by 10.

    Not 10 divided by 9.

    so 20: 7 would be

    20/20 = 1
    7/20 = 0.35

no problem squibbs son - I had to go ask Seanymph's daughter. Fortunately she's now doing A Level Maths and loves to help people out!

Personally I think you should let him carry on trying to work it out for himself rather than ask for the answer on here. His teacher needs to know if he is finding it hard working out the answer so that he/she can help your son understand how to do it. If a similar question comes up in an exam he will have to work it out for himself. I don't think it is doing him any favours in the long run.

He's not struggling, he knows how to work it out now. He did exactly what he was supposed to, if u don't know, ask!

The OP is asking for someone to explain this to her, so she can teach her son how to solve the rest of the questions. I think that is being a good parent. Saying "Do it yourself" is being a rubbish parent.

    Keep post OP.
