It's a bit contradictory having very fast broadband then imposing a limit on the amount of data you can download

Sorry to disappoint you. But for us light users in the slow lane I can only recommend more speed. Another offering 2MB @ slightly higher limit starting @ 2GB for £14.99 or 10GB £19.99 http://www.f2s.net/adsl/homeuser.php

I agree the limit imposed is only 1GB per month! That's a waste of time having the extra speed. NTL impose 1GB per day [about 30x more by allowance], which is a [just about] acceptable amount.

http://www.f2s.net/adsl/homeuser.php The top end of that has a better top limit of 50GB
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

1 Gb Limit @ 2MB is only 8 hours downloading at full speed, seems a bit mean

    Already posted.

Keep dialog coming as not everyone is of same opinion on limits or speed and unlike some here I'm a sprinter not a marathon user. I only need it to get the job done.

An analogy being, Most sports cars are impractical for anything other than what they are inherently designed to do.

Whilst the download limitation is a barrier it can be extended @ cost. You can't make a MPV into a coupe..

Cannot see the maths in this - my 512k connection could d/l 200mb in an hour so 4x that speed would give 1 and a quarter hrs at full speed.

To get back to the point these services are aimed at folks that want to browse and email - so excellent price and speed for that sector of the market.
  • I have just ordered Pipex 1MB Broadband with NO download limit for £23.44, yes you pay a bit more but an award winning ISP with no limits is exactly what I need for Xbox Live & music downloading.

Depends how much you're gonna download I guess.

If you are only gonna browse, email & shop online I guess it is a good price.

    Cheers.

I think you could be right, maths never was my strongpoint, in which case its worse than I thought

On a standard 512kbit connection you can theoretically download just over 4GB per day - 120GB per month. (2Mbit should be able to get 16GB per day).

Watch out for these capped ADSL products - they're fine if you browse the web every few days - but don't even dare to start BitTorrent or emule!

(As a price comparison - my current ADSL connection costs £22.50 - but if I was on the BTyahoo 1GB capped product it'd cost me along the lines of £97 this month for my usage).

If unsure - pay an extra couple of quid and go for an unlimited connection.

    Beware.
