Calling Renault owners... Clio and others

When it rains any more than just a really light drizzle, I am experiencing smears from the windscreen wipers that make it very hard to see clearly. Although the car is new, it has had 3 sets of wiper blades, a new wiper arm and a lot of elbow grease to "polish" the windscreen with special cleaners (the dealer did this) to ensure there was no residue there causing the problem. All this has been to no avail and has not made a dot of difference to the smearing problem.
Renault UK denies there is an issue as there have been no other complaints. This is interesting given that several other vehicles on the forecourt of the same dealer had the exact same issue. Most were Clios but one Megane seemed to have a similar problem, if not as bad. We have been told that if Renault UK say there is no problem, they probably just “work like that” Am I the only driver who actually expects to be able to see clearly out of my window?
I am less than impressed with Renault Customer Service as it is obvious there is a problem, but they are not interested. Has anybody else had this problem? I am beating my head against a brick wall at present :wall:

new clio or the old clio?
if the new clio then your stuck due to the wiper design being new
old clio they fit really cheap valeo wipers, go and buy some bosch wipers from german swedish frech car parts they are £8 each and last ages .... no streaks0 -

You are meant to clean the wipers regually , try using a baby wipe of a KFC one they might do the trick0

I have a brand new Clio but haven't experienced anything like this, sorry!
I hope you get it sorted out - I would go back to the dealer. They will be able to back you up to Renault if they have other cars on their forecourt with the same problem. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -

It is the new Clio and I have ordered some of the Trupart wipers that were rated best in the Auto Express review, so when they arrive I will have to see if this helps.deanos wrote:You are meant to clean the wipers regually , try using a baby wipe of a KFC one they might do the trick
The car and wipers are immaculately clean, but I will remember the baby wipe trick, thanks.I have noticed that when you wipe over the blades a lot of black residue comes off. This has happened with each of the new sets that have been fitted during the last few weeks. No other vehicle I currently own seems to have this problem and they are much older.

Don't bet on it. They recon the wipers "are just meant to work like that". I also get the idea they think I am unreasonable since nobody else has complained.
I would have to agree about Renault Customer Service... not that you can complain, there is not much service to actually complain about :rotfl: Either way. it will be my first and last Renault product. Just wish I hadn't bought it in the first instance. Companies that treat customers like this really do not deserve any customers.0 -
Do you wax your car (or have they waxed it). You can get problems like this when the windows have been waxed.
I have found that the only way forward with garages is to return the car for a full refund. I have had to do this when Polar Ford said that they don't deal with fluids and the windscreen washer fluid froze. Suddenly they did do fluids and fixed the problem. Sad though.0 -
I have a Renault Laguna and only occaisionally had this problem which was normally after i had used a IMO branded car wash. The spray wax takes time to wear off.
Now if i use one of those car washes i don't get the wax.0 -
I have a simple solution.
Dont use it in the rain.0
