Hello.
This looks to be a fair quote to me as i'm in the trade.
I would get two more quotes.Don't go for big companies and ask for references.
You could hire an excavator yourself and dig out the trench which would save you around 75% of that quote

Straight through a flower bed with very few plants (shallow rooted). Small section of concrete paving to come up but needing replaced anyways as badly laid so easy to pull up!

People who did ours used a mole so only needed to dig tiny holes every so far. It took them about 4 hours max so £2k seems a proper rip off...

As I said, I would look to a specialist not a plumber.
