Decreasing Term Insurance - help!

I've been reading through the MSE guides but still a bit unsure as to what to do, we currently have a Decreasing Term Insurance without profits for 2 people covering death and critical illness.

We're currently with Legal and General and paying about £17 a month for £300k of cover, I wanted to increase this to £400k, as I own 3 properties and wanted it to cover the mortgage on all of them.

I'm a bit confused about the differences between all the different policies, if it helps we would need the cover for around 23 years (longest mortgage)
2p off is still 2p off!

  • I'm not sure whether one policy would suit coverage on 3 different properties as they may have different terms or different mortgage types (repayment V interest only)

I would personally consider 3 individual policies to cover each individual need. Finally £17 seems very cheap for the level of cover you have. Is it definately critical illness or terminal illness? I'm also not a huge fan of L&G for cic owing to underwriting approach and definitions considered

  • Sorry it's terminal illness
