Wanted Hotel - Costa del Sol

I have booked flights as a surprise silver wedding anniversary present for my husband in October this year and I would like to book at least a 4 Star hotel for 3 nights
AI if possible - does anyone have any reccomendations? - budget is quite important as well, it has to be not hugely expensive.
Thank you
Titch :)

For my 10th Wedding anniversary I went to La Posada Del Torcal
    https://www.laposadadeltorcal.com
It's about 1 hour from Malaga airport and is absolutely stunning. It has won loads of awards and it's worth reading the reviews on https://www.tripAdvisor.co.uk (some are mixed but it is still rated very highly). It doesn't do AI but the restaurant is fab.

    Kaggy,
that hotel looks gorgeous and I do like my food, but I would love to be beside the seas as well. But thank you - would be interested in that in the future

  • Some friends of ours stayed here in Torrox Costa: Right on the seafront, about 40 minutes from Malaga airport.

The adjacent village, Torrox Pueblo, is stunning.

I've also stayed at the above hotel, we stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment in the hotel. It's lovely but the resort of Torrox Costa is awful, Nerja which is 10 minutes further along is much better (my parents live here so I am fairly biased but it is still great).

  • I agree Nerja is much better but because I live in southern Spain the only coastal hotel I've been in is this one! Our friends were very pleased with it and Torrox Pueblo is lovely. Nerja is also much more expensive.

I recommended the hotel because our friends were pleased with it and they like the Costa del Sol.

To be quite honest, Nerja is the only decent resort on the Costa del Sol, IMHO.

  • We always use:
    http://www.hotelalay.com/
    at Benelmadena Costa.

    3 to 4 star I guess.
    Nice Rooms
    Old style Piano Bar
    Great Buffet breakfast
Evening meals only OK but cheap.
Close to Marina with Lots of Restaurants.

We only go outside the school holidays because we can, and always find it very relaxing.
Close to the airport and highway infrastructure, which makes it a good centre for the coast.

  • By the way, we're there for a week at the end of Feb, 55 euro per night per room, bed and breakfast.

Please let us know where you end up, and how it was.

(no business relationship with the Alay BTW)

I also looked at the Riu hotel in Cadiz and have sent them an email asking how far they are from Malaga aiport - their AI price is just over 300 eoros for the three nights
