No problem. Give yourself a big pat on the back - You've removed a very nasty rootkit!

The easy part is clicking the buttons! :o  ;)

Combofix couldn't clean or replace some files that were infected so unfortunately had to delete them.

(Check it's correct for your model. Let me know if you need further help with this)

    I'd also uninstall these:

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (Support for 8x ends very soon) http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/

    Advanced Registry Optimizer
    ALOT Toolbar
    Conduit Engine
ResultBar 1.0 build 113 (Probably gone already)

Does he need Lightscribe downloaded again or what does it actually do? Can all the logs and other programs that were saved to the desktop be deleted now?

There has been a few people downloading things on to his computer without even asking him if they could and he doesn't know whether these things are needed on it or not. That is why I am wondering does he really need Lightscribe as I don't think it is a program he would use himself.

    Lightscribe

If you have CCleaner installed, click that, click tools, it should be on the uninstall tab, click save to text file, bottom right, copy and paste that

I wasn't near it since post 125. I had other things to do and I got to bed at 6:30 am. I had to be up again before 9am and it has been one hectic day since!

From what I have posted do you think it should be nearly right again?

It should be as far as I can tell from the various logs you posted, but there can be no guarantees with this kind of thing. You can always repost here if he suspects things aren't right and we can take another look.
