Hi all,
this is my fourth week of planning and a regular feature of Sunday nights (sigh) have saved loads of money and headaches. Have decided I will try and add a new dish each week as everyone seems so creative and mine gets a bit boring.
Monday - Steak and ale pie with jackets, cabbage and carrots.
Tuesday - Chicken casserole in SC with dumplings
Wednesday - The potato dish as featured elsewhere with bacon and cabbage added.
Thursday - HM Spaghetti bolognaise with salad and HM garlic toast
Friday - Everything in omelettes with HM chips
Saturday - Sausages in mash with peas, sweetcorn and carrots.
Sunday - Tuna pasta bake with jelly and icecream
As usual breakfasts are cereal toast and eggs if they are lucky! All lunches are packed (20 per week)
Good luck everyone

Complicated week for me this week as OH is away monday to thursday, and I'm going on a girly night out monday, have a friend over on tuesday and am working a late shift on Wednesday... Also my new slow cooker arrived last week and I'm desperate to try it out!!
My plan is only running until Friday as that is payday :j and the start of a new month for us... Scraping the barrel a bit this week as only have £10 to last  Luckily have most things in
Mon - chicken breast with frozen peas and quinoa, with a tomato sauce
Tue - SC Beef stew and dumplings
Wed - something quick and easy: beans on toast or jacket with beans and cheese
Thu - pasta or spaghetti with cheese
Fri - either a meal out (TGI Fridays as we have BOGOF vouchers and pigsback vouchers to pay the rest :j ) or something in the SC involving pork steaks
Lunch: don't usually bother, but if I get peckish I have a couple of tins of scotch broth in the cupboard.
Snacks: Will be making a marmalade cake and a batch of Weetabix Brownies, and also have some fruit0 -

Getting a bit fed up with making the same kind of meals, so yesterday bought a butternut squash and roasted and mashed it. Never tried it before.
Also did chopped sweet potato, orange pepper, red onions and cherry tomatoes roasted in the oven - yum!
Have the rest of the butternut squash in soup today.
Am on the lookout for new ideas though - lasagna and s/pie feature too often in my meal plans - though no-one else is complaining!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
vixtress wrote:how do you make cheese & herb dumplings, they sound yum?
thanks
To be honest its not really a recipe as such, but something I have made up lol.
To make the dumplings I mix butter and self rasing flour together till they make bread crumbs, add a dash of pepper, grated cheese and dried mixed herbs, then slowly add milk or water till you get a stiff dough thats is just workable, and thats it.
Hope that helps.
if you want measurements (sp??) I will try and sort that out for you, because as I say i've never done it, as its always been guess work lolGrocery Challenge. £400. - £35.22 + £19.80 + £109.01 = £164.03
Other spends (Clothes Luxuries etc)£11.97 + £1.19 + £7.36 + £69.00 + £38.50 + £5.50 + £23.00 +£2.00 = £158.52:shocked::sad:0 -
This is my plan for the week
Sun - Roast chicken, sprouts, carrots and roasties
Mon - Pizza hut cos we won vouchers
Tues - Mince, carrots, onions and potatoes all cooked in one pot
Wed - Chicken curry
Thu - Macaroni cheese with bacon bits
Fri - Sausage chilli
Sat - chicken in tomato and rice
Brekkies are always porridge, cereal or toast.
Lunches are home made soup. Chicken and rice early in the week from Sunday leftovers then carrot and lentil half way through. Home made rolls to go with it and some fruit.
We don't do puds really but pancakes, scones and muffins are usually on the go.0
