Home Telecom

Hello!

I need to get my internet + a phone line sorted. My landlord recommended hometelecom.co.uk (no doubt they get a slice of what I pay).

I don't care so much about the contract length (most seem to be 12 month, home telecome offer from 6 months...), which seems to be HT's main selling point.

They're also quite cheap (£23 for BB + phone line). I'm not sure if they have an activiation fee, I've emailed them.

I'm having a problem finding much about them though, with "home telecom" being a rather generic thing to search for.

The main reason I don't trust them is they say they offer fantastic home phone rates, but their only package is £5 for 300 anytime minutes, and it doesn't include free landline calls beyond that. I won't actually use the landline, but this sales line makes me distrust them.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experiance with this company?

I guess if I hear bad things, or they have a high installation fee, I'll go with Virgin(who have it free installation), but that costs £32/month (for phone line + 30MB broadband) D: (though I have a mobile with them, so maybe I can get a deal... ;p)

TL, DR: has anyone had any experiance with Home Telecom?

Just another BT reseller. Use www.samknows.com and do an exchange search for your LLU providers.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

"You are approximately 334 metres from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!"

    heh, who'd have though.

    Thanks :)

They charge £50/70 depending on contract length. This complicates things a bit... who to choose! I guess I'll phone up virgin and see if I can get them to include my virgin mobile with them and see if it works out cheaper I guess.

The point of the samknows search is to identify your LLU providers-bottom right hand corner.
But on that basis you should be able to get a very fast ADSL service.

Yeah, though why does that matter? It just means who I can have broadband with?

You are connected to the Redcliffe telephone exchange.

I think I'll go with virgin. I've not really had a problem with them before in the past. It costs £10 a month more (though 50+10*3 = 80, so really its only £3.33 a month more in the first year), and I'll get free evening and weekend calls to landline/0870 numbers...

guh, this is such a pain.

No, there are dozens of other providers you can have your broadband with-that lists just the LLU ones.
