Any advice on cheap UK cottage hire?

Hello moneysavers,

My generous sister has offered to pay the cost of a week's cottage rental in the summer for our family of 6. She has asked me to research it and find a cheap cottage. I don't know where to start! Can anyone suggest how I can go about this?

I would look on EBay. It is mainly shortish notice bookings but there were some for further down the line. I am going away next weekend with DH and 2 kids. Cottage looks gorgeous and has really good reviews and is only costing £85 for two nights which i think is pretty good. Let us know how you get on.

If you are flexible on location, you can normally come up with a little gem somewhere. I guess the key thing is to either book up straight away now or wait for a last minute booking.

When I was searching for a cottage recently I was given some great websites where you can either do a search or call the company up and tell them your budget and see what comes up.
