I won and they took it away from me

I had just had an unbelievable conversation with a woman at scrumpy jack. I received a letter months ago saying I had won the daily balloon flights promotion and my balloon tickets were enclosed. The letter said that limited edition jackets and cider would follow in August. Nothing arrived so I emailed to ask where they were. A week later Jess rang me to tell that it was a technical fault and that i had not won at all and i would not be getting the jackets or cider. To add insult she also informed me that the balloon tickets were invalid and I would not be able to use them!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently I am the only person this has happened to, I’m sorry but you cant tell someone they have won and then take it away from them. I am so angry and upset


would anyone be able to write on their facebook wall and support me on this im still in shock from the call

Forget about Facebook for now as that might be a bit 'militant'. I'd sent a polite email to the MD of Scrumpy stating how pleased you were to have won as it has been you lifelong ambition to go in a balloon and how devastated you were to have had it taken away.

Appeal to their better nature first.

That's awful. surely they can't take the prize away from you AFTER sending it to you, am sure you will get this sorted x

Awww thats not on really ScrumpyJack!!! I think as a good will gesture u should honour Michelle's prize as at the end of the day, this is your mistake!!! I know how much Michelle was looking forward to this Balloon ride and also the other prizes that she was promised, not really good customer service on your part! Be a good sport and admit to ur errors and bite the bullet and then everyone will be happy!!!!!

thanks everyone im so gutted, I was hoping to take my balloon trip in the spring as its something I could never afford to do. Hopefully they will listen and see reason, fingers crossed

I am so sorry this has happened to you and you have my support on this,I told them:


You cannot pick a winner then 2 months later take the prize away,this lady was so looking forward to her Balloon trip plus the jackets and cider she was promised in August,please do the honourable thing and apologise to her or send a replacement prize.

Thats terrible.....they should honour the original prize...even though there was a 'glitch'...thats not your fault....I would e-mail them and say that you're gonna take it further. Good Luck...don't give up.

Thats awfull and to be honest a company that size can well afford to honour the prize in full. Hope you get it sorted

Do they use twitter? That seems to get the chat going quicker than FB. I'd definitely hit a retweet or add something if someone can find it and put up some links...

Absolutely disgusting. I'm shocked - especially as it was apparently only one mistake. They should definitely honour it.
