Time for a rant...
Appologies in advance! I'm sure this is reasonable and someone will be along to tell me why, but in the mean time here goes:
I've just cancelled my Orange contract, Talk mobile had a better deal that Orange couldn't match.
Went through the rigmoral of the order last Wednesday with talk mobile
"All sorted that will go out today, next day delivery"
Yesterday I phone them to ask why it's not arrived,
"It was dispatched last Thursday, you need to allow 3 - 5 working days, the sales person was wrong to tell you it was next day"
even though the website says
"next day if ordered before 1400."
Last night I get an email saying they require £100 deposite because of my credit check...
Phone them this morning and get
"no it's not been dispatched but yes we do require a deposit, take it up with experian"
Now, Ive had a contract phone for over 4 years and never missed a payment, Credit cards for 4 years and never over spent and always paid off in fulll, I've never been in debt but yet my credit rating isnt good enough for a new contract?!
Rant over... Sensible people please expain why they are right and I am wrong to be annoyed at them...

Vote with your feet - tell them to get stuffed and order from someone else.0

Aye, Thats what I shal be doing at lunchtime! Just wondering wether its worth going back to Orange to a not so great deal or another providor but running the risk of all this rigmoral again...0

But maybe you should look at your Experian results first just in case something there is erroneous? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
You might be right macman, but last time I looked I didn't have a clue what any of it meant!!
On the plus side, Phones 4U have given me a similar deal, being sent out this afternoon. Only took a 20 min phone call to them and the did the credit check while I was on the phone and it came back fine!
Feeling slightly happier and calmer now!0 -
Credit report actuallys is worth spending a little time figuring out. i'm sure there will be a guide somewhere on here0

Not having any debt is actually a negative.0

I think I've heard that before, 'cos if I don't have any debt they wont make any money out of interest charges on what I owe yea? Or something like that?
I'll have a hunt around when I've got a minute and see if I can find a guide. Might be worth seeing what I can find out!!
Once again, helpfull people from here making sense of it all0 -
It's not having a credit record at all that is negative. Prospective lenders want to see evidence of credit taken out and regular repayments made.
The credit report is self explanatory, it shows your current and past credit transactions. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Regardless of your credit status, that's a blimmin long time to wait for a decline. Not the nicest of experiences. I'd vote with my feet too. Guess it depends how good the deal was0

perhaps you should go cap in hand back to orangeReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected.
