Daily Tues 11th

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 11th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning everyone ,slightly stiff arm after my 'flu jab but apart from that feel fine.Still dark which seems strange but winter is definitely on its way.Not cold though which is o.k.I must get some iroing done this morning after the school run.Tonight Henry is going to the open night for his new school which is nice as his next up brother Jack who started lst month there will be one of the boys showing parents the geography suite soI wil be making and having dinner at DDs tonight.I think its bangers and mash a mid-week favourite of the boys.My eldest DDs blackberry has gone off for repair and she is bereft :):) I swear she needs the blooming thing sugically removed at times. They have lent her an old phone in replacement but its not one of the all-singing-dancing blackberries so she's not a happy bunny.Well time to get a wriggle on and have some breakfast I think as its a bit cooler I shall have some porridge with a dash of salt and some milk
Have a great day everyone whatever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO

Cat - best of luck with survival.

Yesterday had a lovely OS meal planned - pork chops, mashed spuds, carrots, cauli etc - except that when preparing the cauli I stabbed my palm (not much blood, but body fat oozed out double yuk).

So quick trip to the doctor, steri strips, tetanus jab and McDonalds later and it wasn't as OS as I'd hoped! Got back with the boys and was feeling a bit wobbly so just sat last night.

Have loads to do today - including finishing preparing the cauli! But the pork chops have seen better days and will have to be collateral damage. Instead think we'll have mash and cauli cheese. Lots of clearing up and painting to do today. As soon as the boys have gone to school......... Hugs to those in need. x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning Cat, esmf and JackieO and all who follow,

Big hugs to Bargainbird and anyone else in need especially Lou,

Today I have a long day at work again as I have a parents evening for year 13 after school and I am actually considering taking the car to work as I don't fancy walking home in the dark at 7pm.

DS started his work experience yesterday, he had a good time tuning and playing lots of guitars but I don't think he is getting the right impression of work!

Can't tell what the weather is like outside yet as it is too dark.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Good morning everyone.
Still dark here. The wind has picked up since i have been up.
Will have to do some ironing when i get home from work but other than that, not much else. Tea isn't the healthiest in the world, left over potatoes, fried (cooked too may for this purpose) sausages, egg and beans. As alot of other people, we are feeling the pinch at the moment so are having to make do with the food i have in.
Hope everyone has a lovely day and hugs to those who need them.

JackieO - my DD was the same with her Iphone over the weekend. She dropped in the bath and it was recovering in the airing cupboard. Anyway she is happy now as it seems to have dried out ok. Thankfully.

So my fight begins today. I have recovered my composure and will continue to fight and save as if all else fails I will pay for it myself. I have to say though that goes against the grain having worked and paid for the NHS all these years:eek::eek::eek:

Anyway hugs and hope you all have a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good morning folks, hope your arm is ok Jackie, you have just reminded me to make a decision as to whether I am going to accept the flu jab or not this year. I dont have health problems that warrant it but my employers give it for free, as we are key workers in delivering these services - something else on the list to be seen to today.
Wsshing was out before six this morning, next load is just about finished - wouldnt it be great to be able to have a full nights sleep, and waken at a reasonable time! I think I am at the stage if I didnt have anything to worry about I would be worrying about that too! EVerything just seems to spring into action when your head hits the pillow at times!
Anyway, all housework done last night so very littleto do today - I want to get cracking and get these socks finished and move onto something else. (Plus I have heard HObbycraft is opening this week in DUndee so may have to have a little trip but I am NOT buying anything until I have used up some of what I Already have lying around)
Tea will be straightforward as there is a big pot of Scotch Broth there to be used and I have an overload of milk so will have a rice pudding to follow. Bang goes the menu planning for this week - however it means that I can put what was meant to be for todays tea into the freezer for another time.
Well I Think a second cup of coffee is in order, so I hope you all have a good day and (((Hugs))) to anyone in need,

    Suzy

  • Morning all

well that was another rubbish sleep. Think I'm going to have to cave in and ask my Dr. for meds. Have got so much to do and can't cope with doing any of it without sleep.

MOLLY I do hope you get your funding sorted, it's disgusting.

Was mortified yesterday that DS behaved like a complete pratt during a talk at one of the schools we went to see. I was so embarrassed as the headteacher had words with him after. I have told him in no uncertain words what I think and he's lost his pocket money this week. Thought he'd grown out of all that.

Big hugs to all who need one today. Apart from cooking from scratch and using up leftovers, there's not much OS going on around here today. Have a good day all.

Morning all, I couldn't believe how dark it was still at 6:45  Off to work in a moo, got leftovers for lunch. I'm having trouble on ebay with a girl who I sent a parcel to months ago but she didn't collect them in time so they are just lost in royal mails system as they haven't been sent back to me. It's been almost three months so I don't think she could get the money back through paypal but I don't want neg feedback :(

    Morning everyone

Overcast, dark and windy here, still doesn't appear to be too cold though. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. DS1 got home from school last night with a flat tyre, so Dad came and checked it over - hopefully after they pumped it back up it will be ok this morning.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, b/beans/veg, I had the remaining cold chicken from Sunday's roast with my veg. Dinner tonight will be quickies as DS1 has rugby training. Work was reasonably busy yesterday, not sure how it will be today!

Have another long day today then working until 12.30pm tomorrow and then I'm on day's off until Monday - have quite a bit to do on my day's off - need to get cracking with the paperwork for the rally in Scotland next year, and obviously the C word that's not too far away and DS1's birthday in early December!

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.
