Parking Ticket Morrisons
Alex-Riley.
My nan took my step Grandpa to Morrisons and they parked in the disabled spaces so my nan could get his wheelchair in and out the car easily however because they have no blue badge (Council don't think he's disabled enough) they got a parking ticket.
I'm telling them not to pay it but am I right or should they pay it?

Yes ignore it and do not be intimidated by toothless threats of court action.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

Ignore the ticket, it is a civil parking charge. The registered keeper may get correspondance from the enforcement company or "debt colectors" just put them in file 13. DO NOT REPLY TO ANY LETTERS, once you do that they will be hounded. for more adive check out pepipoo.com.

And do an appeal to the council about a blue badge, all wheelchair users should have one, checkif they are on higher rate DLA, they should get one automatically.
Tell them to ignore any correspondence from the parking company, they will fizzle out eventually.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
they should pay it because technically they were in the wrong and they will get chased for payment .They could try writing to the store manager explaining their predicament ,but the carparks are usually run by private companies.0

Blue badges have no legal validity in private car parks and there is no need to take any action. Supermarkets like any other retailer have to make reasonable allowances for the disabled and this includes people that are not in possession of a blue badge.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

'Technically' you are in the wrong so I don't know what made you think you knew better than the other posters.
It's been said so many times on this forum but here goes again, for those who actually believe that people HAVE to show a Blue Badge in a private car park:
The law states that anyone who meets the definition of disability as defined in the Equality Act 2010 can use a reasonable adjustment if they have the need for it. So a driver or passenger in a car, who has a long term condition (not just wheelchair-users) can use a private disabled bay if they need it. So someone who has just had a cancer diagnosis can use such a bay, as can a driver who is there to collect or drop off a disabled person - Blue Badge or not.
Oh what a terrible shame that this fact makes it 'difficult' for the scumbag PPCs to establish who is disabled and who isn't. But isn't that rather the point? Disabled people do not have to have 'disabled' tattooed on their head in order to use what the law provides, and who is anyone to question someone's disability?
A simple, polite sign next to disabled bays is all that is needed - just like the signs on buses that say 'thankyou for leaving this seat for a disabled passenger who may need it'. There are still private car parks where there is no 'protection racket' (PPC bogus PCN scam) going on and as long as sufficient disabled bays are provided, such car parks work just fine.
There is NO POINT in PPCs. They are money-making machines, parasites, certainly nothing whatsoever to do with 'parking management'.
@Alex-Riley, show your Nan and step-Grandpa the Watchdog clip on the top thread 'welcome, please read before posting' so they can see what a solicitor told Anne Robinson he would do if ever his mother got one of these fake PCNs.
And also print out the letter-chain you expect them to receive, as the threatograms will worry them. See the top thread 'PPC letters, what to expect'. You should be able to work out which letters will come next but tell them the whole thing is a SCAM and they must not be fooled by debt collector letters.
And finally, write a strong complaint to the Morrisons Store Manager enclosing a copy of the facts about who is defined as disabled, by law. Demand that they get the stupid fake PCN cancelled before your grandparents are encouraged by the family to sue Morrisions for allowing their agent to break the Equality Act and harass a disabled customer. Inform Morrisons that the Blue Badge scheme does not apply in any private car park - even if the private parking co's signs pretend it does - and obviously disability law takes priority (and this is a clear disability legislation breach). Make it clear the whole family is sickened by this episode and that you refuse to enter into any correspondence with the parking company, whose reputation is clearly mud on internet forums, although it's apparent that Morrisons do not seem to care. State that Morrisons have almost certainly lost your grandparents' custom as well as your own, due to their choice to allow this scam to take place in their name, in their car park. Say that in future you will be off to *name the nearest rival* if they do not sort out this farce immediately.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

they should pay it because technically they were in the wrong.....
Is this merely your ill-founded personal opinion, or have you something a little stronger with which to back up this statement?
I do so wish that that posters with little or no knowledge of the subject matter in hand would refrain from posting utter tosh which only serves to confuse and mislead.
Alex-Riley - please discount the totally unhelpful post from youngie and follow the solid advice given by the others here.
Coupon-mad (as usual) has got it spot-on'.0 -
You have been well advised on the invoice situation, but if your Step Grandad has a disability that requires him to need a wheelchair you need to press for a Blue Badge.0

It appears our friend youngie may not be a regular poster on this part of MSE and suspect that they have done a search for Morrisons and stumbled across this thread by accident.
Hopefully youngie will take the opportunity to spend some time on this forum and understand why they have given such poor advice because of a lack of knowledge on the subject?0
