I think that's what made me answer her questions actually. If she hadn't liked whatever answers I gave she might have refused to fill the prescription.
I get them on repeat prescription and see my GP every 6 months for a review, which is all down in their records. And they are quite strong painkillers, not controlled drugs though. If she'd refused to give them I'd have had to see my GP and could do without the hassle...so was daft enough to answer all her questions from right across the shop...!0 -
I can totally emphasise with you over this
I get very annoyed with the pharmacist / assistant insisting that I reveal my address before giving me the perscription drugs
I have explained on a number of occasions that I do NOT want my address revealed to 'all and sundry' in Boots - I have a background of being stalked and never reveal my address openly
This has been greeted with grins and smiles as, apparently, ladies 'over a certain age' don't need to worry about being stalked - I have actually walked away from the counter rather than have my address revealed in public0 -
Be glad it's not a viagra subscription!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

I certainly would if someone came in to my offices and shouted that, even if its a joke!

Surely you don't tell them WHY you are so paranoid about having your address read out, though:eek:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I'd complain if I were you - she's a pharmacist not a doctor!
I once went to my GP's to get my anemia test results, the receptionist asked what it was for and I said "anemia" to which she went "sorry? chlamidia?" really loud and everyone in the waiting room stared at me. it was probably worse cos I was still in my school uniform!0 -
Op, medical records are confiidential for good reason.
I would be writing a very stern letter of complaint to the head office if it happened to me, all you should have been asked is to confirm your address.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

That is just not appropriate. If she had a query then she should have taken you aside and asked in private. I would complain if I were you.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

As a practising pharmacist its our job to ask questions, just to double check the medication is appropriate for the condition. There are ways and means of doing it however. what this pharmacist did was quite shocking, a quite severe breach of confidentiality. There are so many rules and regulations regarding this.
My pharmacy is similar in layout to the one the op is describing and there is no way id just shout over the top
There are extra checks when certain strong painkillers are prescribed (Co-codamol, Tramadol and other so called opioid analgesics) and there are guidelines GPs should follow so the pharmacist in question was presumably just double checking things
And if one pharmacist doesnt fill your prescription vote with your feet and go to the one down the road0 -
