Indiscreet pharmacist!

Options
Just collected my painkiller prescription from the local pharmacy, which was packed. The pharmacist works at a computer raised up above shop floor level. She called my name and asked very loudly what condition I have that I take the painkillers for.

All the bored customers waiting for prescriptions perked up and listened in as I explained. The pharmacist mentioned I was on a high dose of painkillers but conceded my condition probably merited it. She then wanted to know how my original injuries were sustained and what operations I've had! All this was shouted to me across the shop!

Surely there's some code of conduct pharmacists should abide by rather than bawling about peoples' medical history all over the shop in front of neighbours??

You didn't have to answer her. You could have just said "it's private and I have no wish to discuss it in front of the whole shop"

Should've done...I'm kicking myself now. I was just so taken aback I didn't think.

Pharmacies round here (well, the Lloyds ones) now have a private room they can take you in.

This WAS Lloyds! They do have a private room, usually choc-a-bloc with druggies getting their methadone, but it wasn't offered and I was too dumbstruck to think about asking for it.

Anyway, round here it's understood that if you emerge from that room you've just had your methadone!

Next time you go in wait for it to get busy and find out her/his name and shout loudly excuse me
I have bought your STD results in as we were closing early today and your Syphilis results are positive, I am afraid.

That's brilliant! I wish I had the courage to do just that!

Suppose I should be grateful I didn't have anything like that for her to shout all over the shop...! I just feel so annoyed that half the neighbourhood could listen in about my medication and what I need it for.
  • Sorry, but if it's on prescription then can they refuse to give it to you if your answers don't fit? If it's a prescription then it's down to the doctor surely?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • Ignore this

And be done for slander - seriously!

I certainly would if someone came in to my offices and shouted that, even if its a joke!

I'm so innocent:eek: - and there was me thinking it was for anyone who needed to discuss their problems and wished to do so in private!
