Hi all - bout my first bottle yesterday from Poundstretcher for £1 (original concentrated) and have made a spray of 1:8 and it has been great so far.
I have read here of a Stardrops with ammonia (didn't know it existed!) why can't I just a some ammonia to my spray bottle and save buying yet another cleaner? I have had ammonia in the cupboard for years - can't remember what I had it for.
    Any ideas?

Got inspired and decided to tackle the conservatory roof (glass). Mixed up just stardrops in water to get 2 years worth of grime and Sahara dust off and then cleaned again with stardrops, vinegar and ammonia and rinsed off. Results were amazing, so amazing I tried it on a few (I was exhausted) windows and was so impressed. Not sure if you need to rinse, I did, but you do need to buff up to be sure you are streak free.
As I was doing large areas I made up a half bucket of ammonia mix but for windows I will probably just go for a spray bottle of 500ml warm water, tablespoon (15ml) of both ammonia and vinegar and a small squirt of stardrops.
    WARNING
Ammonia is toxic and gives off horrid fumes when mixing so keep water cool/warm when mixing and room well ventilated.
AMMONIA must NEVER EVER be STORED near or USED with BLEACH

What is this stuff like for getting tough marks off walls and door frames etc? Used neat or diluted?

It could shift Staines from Surrey. Use diluted and sparingly.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I bought a bottle from Home bargains for 89p yesterday, bargain.
  • I got two big bottles of stardrops and stardrops ammonia from the chemist 99p each (Vantage pharmacy). They also sell soda crystals but not the white vinegar. I order white vinegar from Concord Extra (online).

I now have to use up all the other cleaners so I will have the empty spray bottles etc to fill with stardrops. The last time I bought it Im sure it was in a glass bottle. I used to buy it to wash down paintwork.

Ammonia used to be used for oven cleaning. I must admit I use my steam thingy for that when I have to tackle it.
  • You might enjoy this from TV ark:

I tried to find the old black and white ones from 1960s but that was the best I could do. The slogan Stardrops cleans right round the house was still going then, and the little stardrop character, (I think there was more than one in the 60s and they came out of the bottle to do the advert).

I'm without a washing machine for an indefinite amount of time after moving house and the nearest laundrette is a bit too far and £5 so I'll be attempting to handwash using stardrops in the kitchen sink tonight.
It's been three and a half weeks since I washed anything
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:
