Just a quick post to say read about stardrops, saw it the other day in Sainsburys at 75p and bought a bottle. I will never buy another expensive bottle of cleaning product again.....this stuff is the best by far!
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

:D Welcome to the Stardrops fan club !!
Wish I had the money I wasted on all the expensive (and often useless) household cleaners!

Help! Does anyone know where I can buy Stardrops in Oxford - I've tried Tesco, Sainsbury's and Wilkos, to no avail.

Which sainburys are you using? I work and shop in the Heyford Hill store and we always have it in.
  • I've never used this before and would like to use it in as many ways as possible.

is there a one page summary of its uses somewhere around?

Its a general purpose cleaner so you can use it where ever you clean pretty much
I use it in a spray bottle diluted to clean all the hard surfaces - kitchen worktops, paintwork & the like - my taps love it lol
I put a small squirt in with the washing-up esp if doing glasses
a little added to the washingpowder in the machine acts like wash booster
Neat it often will get stubborn stains out
I also use it now where I would have used a spray polish ie tv etc as it brings up a lovely shine it can strip wax tho so be carefull around wood furniture - (however I use it on my dining table to clean it - should see the state of the cloth after, to think I only polished before) & then use a wax polish to 'feed' & shine it.....
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

The Kidlington store is not so blessed with Stardrops.

am i right in thinking stardrops doesnt actually kill any germs ? it just makes things lovely and shiny

also i have read on here how it made someones bathroom turn orange - has anyone else had this problem - am also a little concerned about long term build up of limescale

really enjoying trying all he hints and tips ive been reading on here so thank you everyone

though i can only find white vinegar in small bottles from tesco - does anyone but it in larger bottles anywhere else ? tho i was a little disapointed after cleaning everything piece of glass in my house yesterday and thinking it was sparkling then seeing a very smeary couple of panes of glass in the conservatory this morning in the sunlight - the windows in there do get very greasy tho but maybe i didnt make the vinegar/water solution strong enough ?
i sprayed it on wiped and then buffed both with microfibre cloths so i dont know

    any advice welcome :T

  • Stardrops kills germs like any other detergent when used with HOT water and a clean cloth -as far as I am aware. If you are unsure and want a disinfectant boost then you could use a solution of Zoflora.

As for your windows try again with the vinegar, but use crumpled newspaper instead. However, if your windows are very greasy you may need to use a solution of stardrops first to clean, followed by the vinegar solution to 'polish'.

    Hope this helps!

yes i may do the star drops first then vinegar for the conservatory windows - the kitchen leads into there so all cooking stuff clings to the windows and makes them minging and yukky

    thank you
